Well, my plan to find Vinny ASAP in the zombie apocalypse might need some revision.

Game looks okay from a gameplay perspective, but looks like a shitty flash game because of the art style.

I think it's adorable that Vinny named his squad after GB team members.

@mjbrune: <snip>It's just a thought that crossed my mind seeing so many puzzle games and zombie games, and it occurred to me that these genres seem like achievable projects for small teams. If I had to do my first game or do it with a team of 2-3, I'd probably pick a turn-based combat system or something to lower the complexity.<snip>

Intriguing concept, may be true. Devs would be the ones who know that it's that instead of circumstancial evidence.

I'm not fully in development just yet, but as a student in this field I feel I can throw in my 2 cents on this. Mjbrune and Noizy are exactly right. Puzzle games, platformers, top-down or side-scrolling arcade-style shooters, and RPGs where it's like, just dialog trees with some flash animation in between, are THE things our groups are making for projects. 2D is way easier to work with than 3D (though Unity is making that a much simpler task than ever before), and stuff where AI doesn't have to be anything other than line-of-sight and straight-line pathing is a godsend on short-term, literally zero-budget projects (especially when you're just learning this stuff - granted, doesn't apply to most devs, but still). Zombies are a great enemy type for that, so they get used a LOT even though the majority of people in our classes are more than zombied-out.
