Why all the Mike hate dudes? Come on lighten up its a decent, informative QL and at least he didn't pull a Brad.

I loved Settlers 6 and I'd buy this in a heartbeat if it didn't have Ubisofts DRM

Stop hating on mike dudes! I think hes cool, his voice is easy on the ears and he has a good sense of humor a good fit for the Giantbomb cast!

Prefer the rts way of speeding up your workers with the vicious slap in the Dungeon Keeper series.

Already sold on this game, but just can't do it with Ubi's awful DRM.

How is this different from any other quicklook on the site?  Nobody on Giantbomb knows what they are doing in any of these games.  Mike seems to know way more than most, and seemed to want to give us information on the game so that we'd know what we were paying for, without the colored commentary about how this could be better or that shouldn't be in the game.  I'm all for him. "

Really enjoyed this QL, good job guys. 

Unfortunately, I only recently bought Settlers VI when it was on sale, and it doesn't run so great on my PC, so I don't really like my chances with this one.  For now I'll stick with Anno 1404 (Dawn of Discovery).  I still need to get the Venice expansion for that.

Man i loved settlers 2, but i can hardly remember anything from that game. I started playing this and felt totally unknown and different :-/ Guess i'll need to "learn" it from scratch.

Mike-Vinny-Dave quick looks are second only to Ryan-Vinny quick looks.

I love the Mike+Dave+Vinny QLs. Mike seems to be a good choice for Strategy games, since he clearly is more knowledgeable than most (except, perhaps, for Dave).

I tried the demo in hopes that it'd be like the city building from the Black & White games, only without the constant worry of looking afer a virtual pet. Turns out it's a crap load more complex than I was willing to deal with. 
Still, looks like a good game if you can get your head around it. Mike must be real smart.

Wow. I never expected them doing a Settler Quick Look - kudos.  Those Strategy game reviews need their own trademark. Awesome fun :)
 
But, honestly - sitting between Dave & Vinny I would go nuts. 
 
Here's a fun trivia. In Europe you had two sorts of Monasteries: Beer or Wine Monasteries. There are even rare maps where a monk would chose his pilgrimage to Jerusalem or Lourdes or Rome stopping at the Monastery of his taste.  
 
I would debate Dave's taste of German games, but it would be unfair. I live in Germany now for too long.

Mike / Dave / Vinny. I usually LOVE your QL's. They've all been enjoyable and interesting. . .But this QL SUCKED.
 
I'm sorry guys. There was FAR too much menu diving and not enough of doing actual stuff. The point of a QL shouldn't be to explain every single game play mechanic, but to give us a general overview and show us an actual game. 
 
Sorry. I have to give this a thumbs down. Keep making QL's. I love the trio, just this was the worst one so far. :(

The only difference is the U and O and the intonation. The U is a high front rounded vowel (IPA: y), if you do not know how to pronounce this phoneme then make the sound eeee and round your lips as if to kiss someone; this is a close approximation.
 
The O is a lax low back unrounded vowel (IPA: Backward crescent), try making The Simpsons' mayor Quimby's aw sound but not as low, relax the muscles that tense up your vocal folds and reduce tongue root advancement.    

The stress is falls on the ultimate syllable.

Very interesting game. I thought it was just an Anno ripoff but I guess this series really shows itself with the neutral capture regions in a single game. Kinda like a Sins of a Solar Empire crossed with Anno. 
 
Unfortunately, for those people who are saying this QL was too much menu searching, that is the majority of the gameplay in these games. Even when going into late game with multiple towns points captured and trade routes setup, it'll just be a bunch of clicking and scrolling through menus to see what resources are low or what items to trade. I imagine lots of zooming out to see the over world map.

The box art looks like a far cry from the pixar-ish CG.

Game just doesn't seem to lend itself well to Quick Looks, might have to skip it.

All this complexity and menus are not for me.

I didn't think so, but I kinda want this.

It hurts how giant bomb kinda sucks at showing rts games :(
