On second thought, he sounds more like Earl Boen.

Played through this already. It's a pretty good Portal-like, but it doesn't quite escape that comparison and stand alone. Still a great time though.

Tom sounds kinda like a subdued Tony Jay. He was the evil clergy guy in Hunchback of Notre Dame and like, a thousand other cartoon and video game characters. He sadly passed away though.

That side room area with the computer reminded me of The Talos Principle.

I was going to post something like this. It was almost exactly the sort of conversation you have with Milton. Except in Talos you're a robot trying to prove you're alive, rather than a human trying to prove you aren't a machine.

The voice actors play the game (spoilers, obviously).

There must be some voice modulation.

@selbie: I don't think the guy in that video is the voice of Tom, but he does voice some other characters in the game. I'm pretty sure Tom is voiced by James Faulkner although I could be wrong.

I just went and bought this. The ideas behind it seemed so fun I just couldn't let them go after initially writing this of as a too much Portal-copy.

Looks like a genuinely enjoyable puzzle room game. I like what it's doing. I think I'll snatch it up on Steam.

I had to pause this video for several minutes and read up on what this "Chinese Room" thing Vinny mentioned is. Interesting stuff.

Looks cool but is way more Talos Principle than Portal. Even down to the laser mechanics and side computer conversation parts are straight out of Talos.

Sounds a bit like Benedict Cumberbatch to me.

This may be obvious and someone may have said it but TOM is just HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Other similarities:

HAL has a twin computer on Earth

Europa is the moon humans are told to avoid at the end of 2001

TOM talks about himself in the same self-aware manner as HAL.

The game looks good.

Game looks and sounds good.

The dialogue and story seem interesting (even if done a ton by now), but the actual puzzles don't look all that fun to me.

After coming off of playing The Talos Principle and then The Witness... I cannot wait to try this out when it get's on PS4. I said I'd take a break from playing these games after The Witness, and I think it's been long enough.

Obviously there's not a ton of the story here so I can't say for sure, but boy does this ever seem to get close to the theme and overall puzzle style of The Talos Principle. Seems potentially good though.

(this might have been said already but) When I heard Tom's voice, I thought of the dad from Contradiction: Spot the Liar. Too bad they couldn't ask Tom what this means
