Really interested in seeing what this game is. All I know is the screenshots look like Persona.

It's like walking into a desert and seeing a mirage of Austin one last time.

I know these word are a sin upon this site, but I have a lusting desire for a GB playthrough (See what I did there?) of this game. Would love it if Austin was at the helm of it, but he faded into the ether.

I heard this game described as 85% Persona 10% Fire Emblem and 5% Hatsune Miku, and after playing it, that sounds about right.

Man... I was gonna wait on buying this game but I might have to get it sooner than I was planning to...

I'll be checking out the patched version this weekend. Can't wait!

I'm about 25 hours in and I've never played a Fire Emblem game. If I hadn't watched this I wouldn't have known there were any kind of connection to those games. Maybe later I guess.

Is it sad that this kinda makes me want to get a wiiU? I'm not so much into the J-pop angle, but the Persona..err sorry Performa I'm kinda into. I was expecting this to have tactics battles, which i also would be into. Not zelda, Beyonnetta, or Mario maker, but a bootleg persona game makes me want a console. :-/

@alistercat: Yeah you totally can play it on Wii U, as soon as I found that out I stopped playing the retail version until I had the time to do the patch. Only thing that sucks is that you need a Wii U with older firmware to do it.

I'm totally with what alex said: the combination of j-pop, persona and anime somehow makes me really want to play this. I loved persona 4 and anime it's ok (there's more bad than good imo) but I don't know about the j-pop/idol stuff and I'm wondering if it gets annoying for someone that does not listen/pays attention to it outside of other japanese media.

@alistercat: Yes, you can buy the game, patch it, and then play it on your Wii U. The only other things you need are an SD card and a little technical know-how. I'm assuming discussing the specifics are against Giant Bomb's ToS, since this kind of thing is in a gray area. If you need any help figuring it out, send me a PM.

@ChrisTaran: Actually, firmware 5.5.1, which is the latest, is fine. Just don't go updating your firmware after that.

This is by far and away the most Japanese game I have ever played in my life, and I regularly play KanColle.

Also this QL contains all the reasons why I will miss Austin so much.

For Vinny's sake, Cain and Abel were in the Bible. I'm not, like, a bible historian or anything, so I only know the vague sense of it, but Cain and Abel were Adam and Eve's kids? And Cain killed Abel, and it was one of the first times someone did something shitty, in bible-lore? So Cain and Abel, who were characters in the first Fire Emblem game, were named after that whole thing. I think that's the question you were trying to ask.

Also, I've got about 20 ish hours clocked in this game (I'm sick, so I haven't had much else to do since it came out on Friday) and I think it's really rad. I was actually expecting it to feel like a cheap cash-in or something, but I really love the battle system, and the sheer insanity of everything is cool, too.

I wish the Fire Emblem stuff was a bit more pronounced, though. To be fair, Chrom barely had a personality in Awakening, but here, it's even less. I would say the only character who really retains any of their personality is maybe Virion. The Fire Emblem stuff is here kind of in name only. The only other thing that carries over besides the names of things is the rock-paper scissors aspect of the combat: lances beat swords, swords beat axes, and axes beat lances. Bows and wind magic beat flying enemies. The rest is just, like, character, weapon, and ability names.

Also, there's a drink in this game called H-Truth-O and that's the best name for a flouride in tap water conspiracy website I've ever seen.

I burned out on anything persona beyond the endurance run, though something singular.presented in a QL years ago that was done by the same dev was rather interesting.

A beautiful parting gift. I'm still sad Austin's leaving. I'm about 11 hours into this game and am really liking it. I like the sessions mechanic and have read about late game 20 session combos. Kind of reminds me of the dual and triple techs from Chrono Trigger. I've been on board with this game since the first musical trailer and a full JRPG that's not on a handheld is a treat. It's been tough to actually find a place to talk about this game without the conversation derailing and turning ugly.

Damn it all to hell, I was hoping I could get through this cycle without wanting to pick up a Wii U! My only chance is if the NX is somehow backwards compatible.

I hope that Austin's replacement is just as open and informative as he is.

So TMS #FE is pretty good and some of the systems kinda helps bring light to what P5 will bring.

This game has taken my wife from me. I also enjoy playing. It's beautiful, it's own entity, and the best menu and level up screens since P4.

I tried playing this but you need a TV to play this and I don't ahve my Wii-U plugged into anything cause I can play Mario Maker on just a gamepad

Amazing game about 14 hours in and is filling the gap until Persona 5 nicely. From what I've seen I much prefer the localized version, I'm glad the patch exists for those who want it, but I'm glad it wasn't the default.

This might be too much anime for me to handle. Some really cool ideas though.

So some of the dialogue that's untranslated during the battles is kind of important. If you go to use a skill an enemy is weak against, and one of your partners will combo off of it, if the combo skill would be absorbed or resisted, the partner will express their concern over that fact. Which is kind of important.

I wish this was just Fire Emblem with demon recruiting. None of this Jpop nonsensu.
