I think it could have something to do with the games being multplatform (Windows, Mac, Linux), and that the most popular gamepad today, the 360 gamepad is only officially supported in Windows, and even there does some non-standardized stuff (the stick axis stuff is screwed up compared to standards, and the triggers aren't treated as buttons but as a 1 axis analog stick) requiring developers to program for that controller's API in particular instead of using standard DirectInput or OS equivalents. Then of course, some open source games support the 360 pad, ilke Dosbox, so it's certainly doable.

This is the best looking game of the year. I aint trollin'.

I want this game to come out on XBLA so I can play the fuck out of it! The soundtrack stuff was excellent as well.

3D Dot Game Hero x Smash TV!

@fisk0: The PS3 controller can be used on all of those platforms though (not 100% sure about Linux, but apparently it uses an open standard so i'd be surprised if not), I regularly break it out to play SNES games on my Mac.

Hopefully the devs will patch in support for controllers in the complete game as its still unfinished.

Well, there is an standard for stick layout that most dual shock style PC game pads adhere to (buttons vary slightly though), the sad fact is that the 360 pad does not follow that standard, and since it's currently more popular than the others, and supporting both requires the devs to include two ways to read joystick/pad input, they usually stick with supporting the 360 pad as it's more common, but as that pad is only fully supported in Windows stuff gets weird on other platforms. Many multi-platform games ship with Joy2Key (which works with any game pad, but forces the player to manually map buttons to keyboard keys) to solve that problem in a slightly inefficient way.

This is awesome. I love the explosion and death animations.

Those orange things with the yellow tail remind me of Pikachu.
