Can you blame him tough? When has SF group ever praised something like this? It's too bad it looks like most of the gameplay takes place in the wilderness, New LA looks like a cool place with its picket-fenced suburbs positioned next to its terrifying towering metal clock-spire.

Was this suppose to be a MMO initially? Because those character designs are rough, it seems super weird to pump so much effort in to a game but slack on the characters. The eyes are like Clannad big on Lin.

@comradesolar: No I agree, but people don't give their kids foreign names. It doesn't bother me what someone's name is in real life of course, it just seems weird that the majority of characters have Japanese sounding names.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is another demonstration that design quality beats technical brute force, and that the Japanese make the best open world games and RPGs with relationships.

Feeling overwhelmed just watching it but I need to do as I planned and buy a used WiiU then this, no problem running this on a white 8gig?

Vinny really does need to voice alien baby seal voices. My Persona 4 thing came and went with the Endurance run. And I tend to not cope well with many Japanese games of this ilk. But this particular game does have high production values.

You won't be able to download all the data packs with only 8 GB of space. You don't need the data packs, but they reduce load times, so it's recommended. You could get a 32 GB WiiU or just buy an external hard drive.

Doesn't look much different than the first one, which became a sidequest snorefest. Looks like butt, too. I dunno why I was so hyped for this when it was first revealed, maybe that trailer was a liar, can't remember now.

I've been really hyped for this, looking forward to getting my WiiU charged up for the first time since finishing MH3U and moving on to MH4U. Fucking hype people

It only became a sidequest snorefest when you did all the sidequests which were completely skippable. Some had some really cool stories tough so you missed quite a bit of the game by doing so. Looks pretty good, not amazing but still good. You were probably hyped cause people around you were hyped and got dragged into it.

Watching this QL is stressing me out based on the level of complexity and depth in the layered systems. And that doesn't even account for the scale of the world. I am not ready to dive into yet ANOTHER gigantic game, and yet, I am very very excited.

I want this so bad. I don't own a console and never will but I am tempted. My in 980 to is being shipped to my new home and if this game was out I would be driving to pick up a wii u right now. This looks so incredible :( I'm tired of tablet games for the past week sigh ... I wish this was a longer video.

@dixavd: It only works with missions that already have a location marked on the map, not for "Get 7 whatever drops," sadly.

Hmmm... to me it just sounds like you are more into Nintendo's brand of games more than anything else. I would argue that while the PS4 doesn't have much exclusives you still get access to some of the top tier AAA games that have released along with lot other varieties and styles. I know if some of the games made it over from the WII U over to the other consoles I would play it as it will add to the variety, not sure if its worth owning a console entirely over unless you prefer Nintendo's type of games as staple. They are definitely quality titles and worth enjoying but I suppose we have been spoiled by the other two with the different varieties of games available on the system. I don't think MS or SOny would benefit greatly if their system mainly catered to their brand of exclusives. While the games will at least look great it also runs the tendency that these companies might just start churning out yearly titles of the same series much like Ubisoft and ACtivision do with their AC and COD titles.

SO this is the famouse Xenogears series eh? I seen lot of people instantly hail the new title as GOTY without even having the game released for consumption.

Edit: So is there a good plot to tie this massive world in? Or it is sort of like the Monster Hunter games where is mostly about aimless wondering and grinding beasts? Lately games just being vast and open doesn't quite do it for me... I can enjoy the distractions but I like them to have a real impact on the main game somehow. I guess that is probably one of the reasons I could not get itno Skyrim... to bland and lacking personality.

Looks pretty involved. I really wanted to play Xenoblade Chronicles first from what I've seen of the story/music/scale but who knows, maybe I'll try this first because of how expensive the copies are. I like games you can explore and not everything with scale has to be social/an MMO. I liked Xenosaga 1, but I don't think there's much connection between the two, correct me if I'm wrong?

Also, how the hell does this look like butt? Oh wait, video games the internet was made for hyperbole and being negative about every little thing. Jesus, what a bubble.

That alien crab at 9:00 in was quite helpful. I wish more RPGs had characters like that to occasionally appear and help when players look lost.

@austin_walker: Oh that sucks. In the original Xenoblade there was only a pointer for the main mission, none for any other quest. I'm glad they've improved it, but with taking the scale of the game so much bigger, I'd hoped they'd have done more. Still glad they have the thing where you can collect the majority of quest items by just exploring to complete new quests immediately though (that was a cool thing in the original).

It's not Wittenberg (I still think he's 'retired') but you'd not be off saying he sounds just like Teddie.

This reminds me of that early Gundam series where the humans all went shopping in one of the most Bubble Economy-ass Bubble Economy theming I've seen. Like, real hard.

I get the feeling they are overselling how complicated this game is.

It looks the quests are just year 2004 WoW quests with binary choices on how to proceed, the mech shown is like other video game vehicles but with a skill hotbar, and the combat is a mix of Kingdom Hearts style companions and MMO style skills.

I bet that by spreading those kinds of mechanics over 50+ hours, the gameplay will become routine and predictable by the mid-game.

I'm not saying anything about the quality of the game, I just highly doubt it's as "dense" as they were letting on.

Laughing so hard at the crab. This game looks insane... and I will probably pick it up.

I played through 96 hours of the original Xenoblade Chronicles, and it's super-dope, but the two games have separate stories and settings. No need to play them in any order. I also played through the Xenosaga trilogy, and that's even more removed from what these games are. If you already have a Wii U, probably just go for this new one, and maybe the Wii game will be a $10 download somewhere in the future.

Writing this out really is giving me the craving to go back out there today and pick up that Black Friday Wii U. Dammit....

There is definitely a story to play out but the exploration is definitely the focus of the game (evidenced by how for some story missions progress is limited by how much of the map you've explored). The plot is therefore more spaced out, but it's definitely there. Here's the story trailer if you're interested. It's basically the story of "A ragtag group of survivors have to band humanity together on a new unknown world where an army doesn't want them around"

Also, akin to Mass Effect, there are affinity missions which build your created character's relationship with party members (and unlocks some too) to give them more personality. Different story missions may require specific people in your party, but other than that you can mix and match them.

5 minutes into this QL and I was suddenly super hyped to buy and play this game. But then I found out it's only on Wii-U and my dreams were crushed. Really hope they port it to something else eventually.
