Ranma 1/2 was one of the series that I got way into in the mid-late 90s when I had access to anime fan websites (rest in peace, Anime Web Turnpike) but little access to actual tapes or comics. So I read all sorts of stuff ABOUT Ranma 1/2, but only ever actually SEEN maybe 2 episodes.

One of the episodes was about a fighter who used round things (like yen coins) to transform from a little girl into a super busty lady, and could only be beaten if someone struck pressure points on her chest (i.e. grabbed her tits).

That was a weird fuckin' show.

*edit: For the record, the character in that episode I described was apparently "Hinako Ninomiya"*

Also, seconding the notion that Ranma 1/2 was a weird fuckin' show/manga. The high school principle had a massive jungle complex located beneath his office.

Ranma 1/2: Hard Battle was one of my favorite SNES fighters. It feels so good to see it ranked and played! :)

There's more than one Ranma fighting game, maybe Jason got confused over which is the "good one".

Asuka 120% looks like my kinda fighting game. I don't care for anime ladies that much but I do love frantic chaos.

I'm so glad this is back. Possibly my favourite series on the site (and that's tough competition).

I will accept it if we're talking about using a hitbox, because I messed around with that setup and it was an interesting way to play. But having that be the actual in-game mechanic is real weird to me in a fighting game.

I wonder if the game Jason is remembering is Ranma ½ II: Anything Goes Martial Arts. It never came out in the States, but it's the sequel to this game and plays more like a traditional fighter.

The only science here is street science, if you know what i mean...

Asuka 120% Special Burning Fest seems like a bunch of chaotic nonsense in a really good way with its clashing normals and KOF '94 style infinite super spamming.

Ranma 1/2 is alright, though its adherence to "Status Quo is God" deflated my enthusiasm for it after a few dozen episodes. The fighting game didn't look amazing, but I guess there are a couple of other ones? Maybe that's what Jason was thinking about.

The A/C is so god damn loud and distracting.

I loved Ranma 1/2 when I first watched it and still think of it as a fun series, if not really great.

There was another Ranma fighting game before Hard Battle that got released in the US, but it was completely reskinned and released as Street Combat. Seem to recall it being ass.

Also, you might as well leave that top spot blank until you play Waku Waku f'n 7.
