Two unknown games for me. Time for Scientific judgement

Looks like Jason got a haircut, very sharp. I think I got Battle Fantasia a few years ago from PS Plus and never played it, seems neat.

To find the variable fight

Where x = trade, h = hitbox, y = yamcha, k = hadoukens*volcanoes and r = ryu.

The stage at 56:40 has some super reminiscent music. What is that sampled from? Or did someone end up using the same melody in a track more recently?

EDIT: It occurs to me that the stages don't actually have different music in Best of Best. Shows how much attention I was paying.

Why is that game playing a midi version of the Lambada all the time? weird.

If I remember correctly, Battle Fantasia got Quick Looked, like, super early on in the site's history.

Freed's hook changes hands depending on which direction he faces. This game is cool.

I feel like Darkstalkers is going to be a huge blocker in the middle of the list. It's way too low, so games coming up from the bottom half are going to get crushed, leaving obvious turkeys like Toshinden 3 high and dry.

Nice rendition of the Lambada song.

Best of Best feels like Waku Waku 7 only bad.

Battle Fantasia's art style is making me want to play Radiata Stories again...

Battle Fantasia looks pretty cool; I hadn't heard of it before this. The devs could have gone deeper with the RPG trappings. As it stands, it adopts the JRPG aesthetic and UI elements, as well as some character tropes, but it doesn't incorporate much into its systems. It would have been fun if they made leveling more of a thing (instead of using it as one character's gimmick), added a job system, etc. It's still a neat-looking game, though.

I feel like the artist for the Best of Best portraits didn't know how to draw good looking girls so they settled for digitized pictures for all the women (the whole two of them) featured in the game.

This website has some stuff about the different, uh, work that SunA did over the years, including the magic that is Best of Best.

It gives me hope that everyone can find their joy in this weary world.

I really think this series needs a fourth, or maybe more interaction with Jan, because with 3 people, 2 are always fighting and not able to talk leaving the 3rd to just sit in silence or talk to themselves.

There REALLY aren't enough pure fantasy fighting games.

Also @jeff, I think about SCUD at LEAST once a year. I think about SCUD more than some people go to CHURCH!
