@ybbaaabby Just to let you know, even a small bit of input lag is an absolute killer in this game, and any modern TV is gonna have some input lag. I'm not sure what your setup is like, but I had to pick up one of these to let me redirect the Wii audio to an external source. Totally worth it though, this game is amazing.

@chessman2391: I think at some point I just thought the game is broken, that's how long it took me to beat that one. Like, more than an hour of constant practice. It's probably the hardest one in the whole game. Or maybe after that, you just get kinda good at them, I dunno.

@twolines: True, honestly this whole game is practically an engine to make you feel bad. The cartoonish graphics and design make you think you should be breezing through but it's wickedly hard at times

Don't worry Abby, I'm a former drummer and monkey watch really fucked me up too. The timing is so strict! If you can beat it, you can beat anything this game throws at you.

@spunkyhepanda: Yeah, I originally played the whole game with headphones plugged into the Wii U gamepad. It worked pretty well.

Abby, use the movement of the watchhand that the monkey is holding on to as a reference for the rhythm instead of the monkeys winding up their high-five.

Hope you aren't experiencing any lag with the TV, if you're playing on the Wii U you could always try playing from the tablet screen with headphones. This game rules.

@ybbaaabby Rhythm Heaven is one of my favorite series of games, so I'm really excited to see you start a series for it! The timing windows are deceptively strict for how cute the aesthetic is, so don't beat yourself up if you get stuck on a level. You're doing very well for a first-timer (especially given the input lag your TV seems to be adding)! I don't personally feel like you need to be more talkative during the song, the video's fun as-is. Thanks for all of the great work, as usual.

This whole video is an Abby emote goldmine.

This was great! Partly because yes, this is one of my favorite games, but it's also a lot more satisfying to see someone improve and conquer these levels than to see someone breeze right through them. Hope Abby sees this one through.

Ahh Monkey Watch, Fever's Lockstep. I still think Lockstep is harder, but bouncing between on and off beats was always the hardest things in these games for me. And what timing, too, I was just lamenting today how there's no Rhythm Heaven on Switch.

@lyndbako: Ohh yeah that's true, been a long time since I played Fever. The zooming out of the Monkey Watch reminded me of the zooms in Lockstep, maybe that's why I relate those two. Space Soccer always messed me up though, too..

Tangentially, playing again has made me realise the cat from Air Rally sounds just like the King from Hamilton.

@ne_austin: agreed as well! It's why I sometimes go back and watch Patrick and his streams. From Spelunky, to the Binding of Issac. Especially his Dark Souls set. He got so good at those games but I enjoyed the journey to get there.

Was it just lag that was wrecking tambourine? Two measures of quarter notes, with a rest on the 8th and back on at beat 1; it’s the most straightforward mini game yet.

I have never laughed at something on Giant Bomb harder than Abby's "Sunday evening" riff.

Rhythm Heaven owns.

Abby's experience is similar to mine and based on these comments, a lot of other people's as well! The first few games are hard as balls but suddenly the game just "clicks" around the first remix. It's not so much reacting to the rhythm but actually becoming one with it that takes a while.

Lockstep can go to hell though
