I had to look it up because the UI and movement REALLY reminds me of downwell but nope, different studio. It's not a ripoff by any means but it's eerily similar in some ways.
The controls in this game are sublime, its A LOT of fun, didn't expect to like this at all but the quicklook made me download it on GamePass and I'm glad I did..
You can't tell me these devs didn't play Monolith. Might as well check if opening the map lets you teleport to any room you've been to. The whole presentation, the way you have to fight minibosses to open the boss room, the way the bosses are introduced and even the bullets, all of that just screams Monolith. You look at a screenshot of the game where you don't see that it has gravity and you'd think you're looking at Monolith.
Think that's at least the 2nd time I've heard Ben say that saying about Stalactites / Stalagmites. As others have stated ya got it backwards man. Hanging on tight, pushing up with might.
Or as a pervy old chemistry teacher once told my class "stalactites come down. like ladies tights. hehehe" *shudder*
Was your chemistry teacher Master Roshi?
Anyway happy to hear this is on Game Pass, this service just keeps on giving and I hope it continues to provide new eyes on low-key indies with just a minor investment.
This looks a decent amount of fun, but if these devs truly wanted to 'do something completely different' with the roguelikes.. i don't see it here. This is soo closely related to a bunch of other ones.
