Spelunky's just fun to watch. I've never really played co-op despite my thousands of hours in 1 and 2, so seeing this makes it look like chaotic madness.

yeah I have never really delved into it since Spelunky 1's implementation was pretty wonky but this is interesting. Seems like it'll be easier to get carried to the endgame if you have four people who vaguely know what they're doing!

Every time I go online with randos on PS4 they drive me crazy in the first world. I'm maybe taking the key to the chest when they just exit. Infuriating.

"try to get the key all the way to world 4 without dying, which is pretty difficulty..."

Bruh...I'm struggling in this game to even get past world 1 regardless of key status xD

I need to play more Spelunky 2. Main issue is that I can mostly deal with the assholish enemies (the moles being a good example) but there are just too many death loops like the yetees just punishing you in the corner like you are a scrub who doesn't know how to combo break.

It happened in 1 too, but there it always felt like 4 HP meant I could screw up 2 or 3 times. In Spelunky 2 it still feels like the first time I screw up I am wiping no matter how much health I have.

I definitely recommend multi-player as a great way to learn & practice. Once you get past the initial chaos, it's a safer way to play and being able to take more risks means you can actually feel safer experimenting & learning. My friends and I often play in a group of 4 and we can fairly consistently get at least one regular win most nights we play, and we got our first secret win together recently.

For context, two of us have played enough to win a fair few times, but neither of us have had solo secret wins (though we've each been close a couple times). The other two players are much newer and are both around the point they're starting to reach world 4.

Regardless though, having other players able to revive you every level is huge even if you lose the equipment, and the ghosts are incredibly useful in certain situations so you can still contribute while you're dead. My more experienced friend & I both got our very first regular win together on only the second 2 player co-op session we ever did (at a time when we'd barely each made it to the final regular world).

Well, there's your problem. :b

Seriously, though, I never play co-operative games with total strangers, because most often they're of the "LOL I'm going to be a jerk-off for my YouTube stream" mind-set. At the very least, I'll chat with people on Discord or some other platform for a bit before playing games with them.

@gundato: This was one of the biggest detriments to my time with the game. The number of literal one hit kills and effectively one hit kills feels way higher than Spelunky HD. It devalues the pets, honey, and kapala because they provide a seemingly meaningless resource.

Spelunky 2 co-op is really fun to watch. The game is chaotic even when you’re on your own but having four people dials it up to eleven.

Posting this late, but I just want to say I had fun playing with Rorie and the others! Too bad I beefed the Olmec run at the end. I got greedy trying to get that ankh.

I still wish you could have joined Vinny and Ben in Going Rogue, I think your roguelike expertise would really come in handy. But I know Spelunky is your true calling. It does have dogs to save after all. Does Rogue have dogs? Press d for dog and p for pet dog.
