The nostalgia for this game doesn't surprise me, but I'm still fascinated by how suddenly everybody started talking about it recently. I never heard a peep about it until a few years ago, then it was like a dam broke. Videos and comments have flown fast and furious about it ever since declaring it a forgotten classic and exemplary platformer.
On a related note: I can't imagine Sandy is too proud of Texas these days.

I was a child who played and loved this game back when it was new, there were so many absolute trash ass garbage licensed games around the cartoons of that era that getting something that managed to capture the tone and writing style of that show while also being a perfectly serviceable platformer was enough to make a huge impression on myself and a lot of kids from that era.

Hell yeah, an Abby/Ben/Jan QL!

She moved to the bottom of the ocean. She might love Texas, but she just doesn't like it very much.
Wait, this QL line up is iconic.
god damn spongebob is awesome
I enjoyed this content.

Here to say that Abby's Nolan hot take is 99% accurate.
Isn't Abby's Nolan hot take is basically Paul Ryckert's opinion on Inception?
I have a problem following Abby's logic that movies are overly complicated to make you feel smart. Can't say I've ever had a movie make me feel smart.
Abby: "I shouldnt swear this is a kids game"
...2 minutes later
"DAMN they fucking went for it this shit is like wobbly as FUCK and I'm like oh shit"
I don't agree with a lot of Abby's takes but that one is spot on. Maybe not the 'why' (I don't know that it's about people feeling smart as much people liking to be like 'wow mind blown!') but the reasoning that his scripts go out of the way to be about 3-6 twists too deep is spot on and why he's kind of exasperating and cliche as a filmmaker. It feels like a crutch and very early 2000s. Like the movies directors made who saw the often twist heavy indie films of the early to mid 90s but they totally missed the point.
Dunkirk was good, though, so maybe he's growing up.
Extremely good G-rated Quick Look for children with zero swearing
Where would you go where would you go with a lasso
@missashley: I've always had a soft spot for this game. But when I heard they were remastering it I was VERY suprised because it is not on the level of Spyro, Crash or Tony Hawk.
As a fan of 3D platformers who was too old for Spongebob at the time (I liked the movie but maybe that's because the soundtrack ripped with exclusive Wilco, Flaming Lips and Shins songs!), this is pretty interesting. There really aren't as many quality 3D platformers as you'd think once you look passed the major series, so maybe I'll check this out sometime.
@swthompson: Giant Bomb is rated "A" for "All Kinds of People".

I liked this game back in the day (except the final boss which is bullshit and terrible) but I'm still flabbergasted that it's gotten a remaster.
Although, for the past couple of years I've considered re-buying it, so the remaster is actually great timing!

This is literally the most millennial thing Giant Bomb has ever done.
My instincts kicked in when you said the first part of the theme.
When Abby starting swearing it would of been great if it was dubbed by dolphin sounds.
It's always been something of a cult classic, but it's gotten a lot of attention the past few years thanks to the thriving speedrunning community (haven't watched this video yet because good lord it's a two-and-a-half hour long documentary, but people say it's a good summary). Moreover, THQ announced they were "reviving" some of their classic Nickelodeon properties back in March 2018, well before they ever announced this specific game, so that naturally lead to a lot of people talking about BfBB since then.
Props to Abby and Ben for doubling down on that setup/payoff microphone gain joke. That was some solid teamwork.
Regarding different pronunciations of, "lasso:"https://forthright.livejournal.com/222078.html#:~:text=Usage%2C%201926%2C%20p.,'%20In%20ed.&text=1)%20The%20word%20lazo%20is,contact%20in%20the%20US%20Southwest.
TLDR: Americans tend to say LASS-o, while speakers of British English (UK, Australia & some but not all Canadians) say la-SOO. Speaking as someone who grew up in Western Canada, I say la-SOO. Vinny is something of an anomaly.
I like how they all agreed on Vinny being wrong about la-sooo and then Abby kept saying La-soo afterwards :)
Is it just nostalgia that makes this a popular speedrunning game? I figure there's a little bit of irony mixed in there.
Are you ready?! Would have been a much better intro... But I’ll take the show intro I guess.
@steelknight2000: Could you run into, could you run into, could you go and run into me?
I concur with the masses, more Abby/Jan/Ben streams please! They have such a fresh, enjoyably casual chemistry that it's like sunshine in my ears.... yes, ears. lol :-D Something multiplayer, co-op and lighthearted. Hmmm is Dragon Quest Builders 2 multiplayer? Something alone that vein. (I am aware of the Minecraft sreams, they're fun, too)
