I heard it’s the best Kart racing in the Universe

Bloody Sonic.

I loved sonic and all stars racing transformed, but this just feels like an incomplete game by comparison. No transforming vehicles (which makes the tracks less interesting) and no old Sega character nostalgia. The team mechanics are more distracting than anything.

Edit: and the items are just bad. I played maybe a dozen hours and couldn't tell you for sure what a missile item looks like

There's a saxophone solo and a theme song cribbed from all 90s animated series (certainly Sonic SatAM). That tells me a lot about where this sits in terms of progression and development.

Abby calling Shadow Bloody Sonic is amazing. Well done.

I will not stand for shit-talking Crush 40. Legit some of the best soundtrack stuff and they always just GO FOR IT. Live & Learn, all time classic.

It's pretty fun. I miss the other Sega characters and I'm baffled as to why this and CTR are releasing so closely to each other. But I'm having a good time.

@ryan3370: Yea the lack of transformations killed my interest in this game as feels that and the changing tracks is what makes all-stars great. The team stuff is an interesting mechanic and think works well for these sorts of kart racers (especially for kids) and more should look at adding a least a team mode.

As someone with a couple hundred hours in transformed, I love this game. I wish it weren't just Sonic characters and I do miss the transforming, but they really went for it with the team stuff and it feels GREAT. The skimboosts and slingshots both feel great.

For the record, Dodon Pa is a Tanuki. Also, I like the story for the degree with which everyone goes "Dodon Pa is really suspicious you guys!"

I was very surprised by Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed being a Mario Kart fan, but now SASRT is my favorite -- I'm with Vinny on this one -- so I might give this a go as well. But the lack of other Sega characters is a bummer. I want the old characters and a bunch of new ones as well. I'm talking about folks from Yakuza, Virtual On, Condemned, Valkyria, Phantasy Star, and bring back Danica Patrick too! That was pretty hilarious.

It's been a while since I played Colors, but aren't the powerups the same critters from that game? For anyone that knows, does that help understand that stuff better?

As someone who isn't a huge Sonic fan, this actually helped me understand the complaint about the lack of gloves in that Sonic movie trailer. Those gloves are really featured prominently in all the character art, like the defining thing separating the blue sonic from that silver sonic on the character select screen is that the blue one holds his gloved hands up to the point that they extend out of the frame.

Looks okay, but Mario Kart 8 is still a great game anyway.
