Is there a Part 4? The "last time on the Bloodborne Identity" at the start sounds like the stuff that happened during Part 3.

EDIT: @janman I don't know if anyone pointed this out, but Trails of Cold Steel 3 is actually the 8th game in a very story heavy series. I'm still working my way through the series, but from what I've heard, Cold Steel 3 very much relies on knowledge from all the prior games. But if you play with your buddy guiding you along, he might be able to clear up some confusion.

On a related note, if you want to get into the series at the start, the first game is Trails in the Sky, playable on PC. The series is great. The games tend to be quite slow paced and focus a lot on world building and dialogue. The actual combat and gameplay is fairly mediocre, but fortunately the game has a "fast forward" than greatly speeds up everything. You can be in and out of normal encounters in <10 seconds.

I remember when I first played Bloodborne, it was my first Souls game too. I got to Father Gascoigne, banged my head against it for a while, didn't get very far, and ended up returning it and used the money to buy some comfort gaming. I came back to this game a year after and got past Gascoigne and ended up beating and liking the game a fair amount. I'm now of the opinion that if you can beat Gascoigne, you can beat Bloodborne; he was my biggest road block for sure. Don't feel too down about this guy kicking your ass, Jan! He's a real mother fucker

Father G is the first major road block in the game and you got him down to a sliver of health. I’d say you’re doing just fine.

You almost got it, remember how you beat the Cleric Beast on your first comeback fight... That's how these games work!

Big props to Jan he is parrying way better than I did so early on into the game and I actually had experience with past Souls games.

ALSO - I'm all for Jan beating this boss and then moving on to a different game.

Hope Jan keeps playing and doesn't bail now. Gascoigne is a bit of a roadblock but teaches you a lot of fundamentals that'll come in handy for the rest of the game. And rest of the game is very good.

The idea of Jan, who has never played a Trails game before, potentially having his introduction to it all via Cold Steel 3 is kind of blowing my mind. In the end of the day who really cares, all that matters is that he and/or the audience has fun, but as someone who is a big fan of the franchise I can't help but think that Cold Steel 3 is particularly and uniquely structured to be both impenetrable and frustrating due to being a game that just doesn't even really have anything happen in it until the very end and relying on recurring characters for almost every big moment. Even Sky FC, the first game in the whole franchise and infamously one of the slowest, still told a relatively "complete" story and at least there virtually every character was a fresh introduction too. I can't help but think that Jan if he were to see it through would be both lost and not particularly satisfied with the half-assed attempts CS3 does to set up the events to lead into CS4. I'd still love to see it in a vacuum if nothing else to get the series more exposure, it'd be certainly better than the current coverage the series gets with GB (which is none).

Jan, man...here's a plan, and how I got past the werewolf form... run up the stairs and around until you reach the roof of the building below with the boss on your tail, drop down and head back for the stairs, if you lead him just right you can use the railing as a barrier and get some hits in before he walks around it.

Jan, as others have said, if you can beat Father G, you can beat this game. BB was my first souls game I really played having bounced off Demon's Souls fairly fast. It took me dozens of tries to beat Gascoigne and found the rest of the game easier though I still had plenty of difficulty spikes. Keep going, so many of us are having a blast watching you! And you inspired me to get back in, gracias hermano!

p.s. if I can make a suggestion, always be farming. Every run to Gascoigne can net you 8-10 blood vials and 4ish bullets (if you get the old man). It hones your skills (especially the stagger) and keeps you from having to interrupt your boss attempts to just farm. That always pulled me out of my flow :)

p.p.s. I've wondered this, any particular reason you don't play online? the notes people leave can be extremely useful/insightful/funny/poignant

People who tell Jan things like there is a second form to Father G before he gets to it are the worst.

Hey Jan, not sure if you're aware of fighting game stuff like footsies, oki, etc, but it's all that game is. You're so close with your spacing. You just need to be like 10% more out of range.

@lebdrift: Yah that was a bit disappointing especially after Jan mentioned "oh thats it? This isn't so bad" and I was waiting for the surprise transformation reveal.

I summoned help to beat FG the first time because I hated how long it took to get back to him after dying. But I beat him by myself on NG+.

These streams by you, Jan, have been incredibly enjoyable and I've appreciated your thoughts on the game and these current tumultuous times. Thanks for your play-through of Bloodborne, and I'm proud of you for pushing through even when it gets tough!

This has become one of my favourite Lockdown "Chill" streams (and as a Premium Subby) to listen to. You can do this! We are behind you! And heck, it took me many, many deaths but I persevered and found that each win brings you that little addictive high knowing you've conquered each boss that many gave up on! :-D x

Jan,

Enjoying the series while I lie in bed with CV-19. But did you know that every weapon and every weapon form has a light and heavy attack?! I think it got muddled for you by chat right at the start, but you don't need to hold R2. Just press R2 for heavy, R1 for light. Holding R2 supercharges the heavy attack but isn't recommended unless you have lots of time. Keep going!

@nthnmllr: People should be required to take a test or something similar before being allowed to give advice. It's only fair (to Jan).

Is it really so hard to not just tell people what's about to happen immediately before it happens? Is the point of live streaming now to see how much of the game the chat can preempt? Let them play the dang game smdh.
