Vinny getting the close up video of Xavier being retrieved by the mothership. The real question now is are the aliens kidnapping him to fight in space wrestling or is commander ryckert in league with the alien menace?

As someone who has played many, MANY hours of XCOM the battle music is particularly annoying since I've heard it maybe thousands of times!

Alex is good, but I think Abby's the best.

Kinda strange they made it this far not knowing many XCOM details (like continental bonus etc.)

Why don't they sell all that useless EXAULT junk they have? Not doing anyone any good since they don't use it ever.

Yay! Abby´s turns have been fun to watch lately, and this is still my favorite series on the site.

Part of me still hopes that someone will take it upon themselves to finally see Dave Lang redeemed and returned to his rightful glory, though his character arc seems to have been closed up for a bit now.

They also missed a few vendor trash items that they scrolled past, all of that combined should buy them one plasma rifle for Alex to play with.

Soldiers only get bonus XP from kill shots, so that whole point where they were trying to feed XP to the rookies and had them shoot first on a 10-hp guy and then going to Abomination and Jason for the kill shots had me smh

Otherwise that was a solid op, by the numbers. Close Combat Specialist is so good

The Exalt weapons aren't worth much, like $2 a gun. And they probably should keep some of them in case they get a request from a country for the weapons; the rewards for fulfilling those request are much better than selling items.

You can solve wich country the base is in with the intel you got, just saying

It just occurred to me, are they going to play the final mission as a group? Or are they going to allow the inevitable likelihood that Dan will hog all the glory?

Each week Jason’s long overdue psychic defenses are briefly suggested, before being instantly forgotten with a spin of the globe.

Thematically, the only way his sub story can end is with him being mind controlled during the penultimate mission, killing Zhang and putting Abomonation out of his misery.

X-Com is shaken by the loss of it’s most decorated soldier and informat turned unlikely ally, but must continue for the safety of the planet.

Jason must lead a squad of rookies on the final push and redeem himself in the process.

Duder, given the history of GB, you really think any of the crew has any idea of which are the official languages of any african country?

@cagliostro88: Wow didn't realize they had it already solved. Wonder if someone will comment which country the base is in.

When they get to the final mission, I really hope they think to sell off everything in the gray market first, if only to see how much they'll end up with. Though I'm sure having all that money will prove helpful as well, in which case, I guess they need to be careful to not sell what they can still make use of with the initial profits.

The thing is, neither did the makers of Xcom. The countries the game considers eliminated so far are marked in the game, and regardless of whether or not that entirely matches real world facts, the remaining ones are still potential hosts for the Exalt base.

@blacklagoon: you are totally right, which is frankly insane that they didn't even correct it in a patch since it's quite glaring. Oh well then, better this way then i guess?

Yeah, it seems that the developers assumed the 3 African countries they chose for the game aren't English-speaking countries. You'd think they would have researched this a little better, but the EXALT intel system is already so shallow and it does all the eliminations for you, so I guess I'm not surprised that they didn't put much research time into it. Of the major additions from the Enemy Within expansion, I've always thought the MECs were well done, but everything about the EXALT (both in the base and on the missions) is pretty lackluster and feels like they were trying to do too much with too little resources.

I wonder if the Exquisite Corps is going to realize that although South Africa has left XCOM, this has no bearing on whether or not they might be harbouring the EXALT HQ. I'm pretty sure Vinny repeatedly said in this video that the HQ is either in Nigeria or Egypt, so I look forward to a future episode where they could possibly end up accusing the wrong country because they happened to get clues that haven't ruled out the country that has left XCOM.

Also, yikes, 28 episodes in and they weren't sure if launching a satellite over a country was going to give them money or cost them money.

People who tend to say "I don't think that does much" tend to mean "I don't understand it."

Now that they are getting close to the end, I would really like to see everyone be on the last episode. Maybe have Vinny actually control the mouse/keyboard and have the other three commanders try and come to a consensus on what they should do. Obviously this would be very hectic, but I still think it would be a fun way to finish the series.

Abby's got a solid grasp of this since the Xcom base mission. Really improved.

Can end this in the next few episodes, although if you want to give the squad the best chance (and see some more fun stuff) maybe drag it out a little to get plasma rifles, plasma sniper, plasma heavy, alloy cannon, titan armour, alien grenades... But yeah. You can probably do it without.

Is there anything they can do to stop Abomination being the first selected soldier? Vinny basically starts every single turn reminding whoever is playing that they should look at other people's moves before firing a sniper shot, bless him.

Also it's a shame how everyone has just given up on the psychic and gene modifications completely for the last few episodes. That stuff seems fun but for whatever reason it has been ignored to the point where now they won't do it because it takes soldiers out of play for too long. It would have been a great time to do it since they were just doing easy missions with rookies so wouldn't have missed the veterans.

My guess is that the Exalt HQ is in South Africa.
