Oh man. Abby is sounding like an amazing fit for Giantbomb and for East. Welcome Abby!

This is a first time I've heard about this Hitman news. That is a huge bummer. I'm a long time Hitman fan and Hitman (2016) was such an great return back to the old Hitman formula. I did not quite hold it in the best game of the year regard. I thought the maps were honestly quite weak after the amazing first two maps.

Was extremely excited for their next Hitman.

@alvarofaraujo: I also remember the gagantuan hype around AC2, it was all the fanbase wanted and then some more. The E³ trailer saved this franchise so to speak.

Too bad they tried to make AC an annual release which was a terrible idea all things considered. I'm glad they stopped doing that. AC2 had like 3 years of development or so.

HOT CONTROVERSIES:

1) I first played Eternal Darkness a few years ago, and I didn't have a problem with the control or it feeling "clunky" at all (though you need to practice the attack-targeting mechanic a bit). If you don't like the typical RE/Silent Hill survival horror controls, you're not gonna like it, but I think the "it's unplayable nowadays!!!" opinion that has been voiced in certain quarters is histrionic.

2) If your birthday cake is a loaf of pumpernickel covered in frosting, you're not gonna be happy, and if a person asks for a sandwich and you give them mince pie, they're not gonna think you fulfilled their request. (Admittedly, there are many who would not be happy with pumpernickel or mince pie in any scenario.) As Alex said, there are edge cases for all classifications, but at the end of the day, language has to convey some degree of useful meaning, so I have a hard time giving the "EVERYTHING IS EVERYTHING I JUST BLEW YOUR MIND" arguments for abolishing classifications much shrift.

@vinny@alex if you hold down the triangle button on the end of battle screen in P5 it scrolls through everything significantly faster!

1) Boo to Alex for hating on True Lies. That's a good movie. There are cool action scenes for sure (the jet, the horse chase, the whole party intro, the bathroom fight) and even Tom Arnold is good in it. Plus Arnold. Still a good movie.

2) I like ME: A quite a bit. I think Vinny would like it. I think the game has a bad rap and it's kind of sad. I was thinking about it some and might make a post about it on here but I think the series made a big mistake in scope. They went for apocalypse when they could have went much lowered and easily made more games. I think the scale was ruined with that choice. I also think ME:A is good and not great and people are just way overboard with it now. But I will say I enjoy the game so much in part because I do love the multiplayer, especially now with some tweaks over time.

Basically I think, like the last Dragon Age, it was not great and I think there is an overreaction to that. But I think they messed up Mass Effect before even this game. And instead of just saying "hey do a little better" the answer for game companies now is often blow it up.

3) They were hating on Eternal Darkness too much. I'm sure they don't want to play the original release of RE either but that's still a good game. I think Eternal Darkness does some awesome things like having so much coverage of historical periods and also doing a good job with a Lovecraftian Horror story. It has a unique magic system. There are not games like it.

EDIT: Dan already pointed out that she actually was in Star Wars 1, so you can stop repeating it. I admit, I had no idea. Then again, that's not exactly a movie I'd re-watch enough to realize this and "Amidala's double" isn't quite the role that first comes to mind with her.

3. "Cyber" is such a dumb, wannabe edgy word. It also WAS a word used to talk about competitive gaming, the "World Cyber Games" were some of the more organized, long-running events at the time. People stopped using it because it was so dumb, but I guess Russia didn't get the memo.

4. Thief 1 + 2 are masterpieces. Thief 3 is still great, mostly thanks to the "Robbing the Cradle" mission.

5. Y'all hating on Square Enix, but they released the best game of the year in NieR: Automata

6. Assassin's Creed games always played like garbage. I remember standing on the roof of a 1 story building, trying to get down. I couldn't climb down because there was some clutter on the ground below, so every time I tried to "walk" off, Ezio would just hang onto the edge. Eventually I did an "aggressive" run off of it and managed to get down by murdering a random civilian talking by.

I'd get up for a picture with David Tennant, Brian Blessed, and John Hurt rip.

@danryckert, that Mario Galaxy coin is in your box! I found my Galaxy coin box a few months ago and opened it up to find it was missing. I was taking the box over to the trash can when the coin fell out. Apparently it's real easy for that coin to wiggle itself into the guts of the box. Hope this helps!

As to the Cake/Bread thing;

Don't get hung up on whether the word cake or bread is in the name of the item. That's just semantics. You can name anything anything. If I name my Cat "Turtle" that doesn't make him a reptile.

Case in point; Sweet Breads. Definitely not bread.

I think you all got it right with the dough vs batter thing. Breads are made from dough and cakes are made with batter. Cooking is all chemistry. The item is defined by how you make it.

But with all things humans are just obsessed with labels. Names are just commonly accepted associated noises we make to easily communicate with one another. What you call a thing doesn't change what the thing is.

The shit about AC that put me off was the ability to actually kill someone and sneak away in the first game that the rest of the lost. Never felt like I could kill someone and make it away without anyone knowing it was me like you could in the first game.

To hack the fast travel thing, put it on the toilet itself, not the room. Move the toilet, cheat-move the point.
