Glimmer cap is 100,000 (in-game it says 99,999+)! You can buy blue mods whenever, but you can't trade in 3 blue mods for a legendary mod until you're 280+. When you break down legendary mods you get mod components and when you have 2 of them you can trade them in for a random legendary mod as well. The +5 mod system is awful, it makes it hard to figure out what power level you are and that can be a pain.

Also I'll agree with the general buggy-ness of the game still. Still getting matchmaking crashes where the game completely craps out, sound glitches galore, frame rate drops, etc. Its a real bummer and I hope they get this crap under control sooner rather than later.

Did Vinny really forgot to edit out the Destiny 'spoiler' or was it just a joke?

I just thought I should say that Vinny's talk in the Corrections section is much appreciated. It breaks my heart every time I see someone in this community not being thoughtful about the way they think and speak about social issues, so it's wonderful every time a GB staff member talks about these issues, especially in such a heartfelt manner. Big ups to Vinny for addressing the racial discussion in corrections, as well as bring up Ta-Nehisi Coates whose writing I would recommend to any white person trying to understand the struggle of black people in America. His book "Between The World And Me" is incredible.

Hiccups is when your diaphragm spasms, so my solution is stop breathing (not hold your breath) and tense your stomach muscles. Works 100% of the time.

Suddenly making me realize that I don't think I've had the hiccups in my adult life and that seems really weird.

I get that same thing that Alex mentioned, where eating bread (and some other things, like certain kinds of french fries) will give me hiccups. It took me quite a bit before I realized that this wasn't something that happened to everybody.

Luckily, I can tell when it's about to happen because I feel my throat tightening up and as long as I can drink some water before the feeling disappears I can usually avoid getting the hiccups.

For me, I just drink something right when I'm about to hiccup, and that gets rid of my hiccups every time. I'm glad I have a super easy solution.

A tremendous amount of respect going out to Vinny and, by extension, the rest of the Beast crew.

I'm surprised nobody remembered the Dr. Vinny segment from an early episode of the Beastcast where he explained why breaded things give people hiccups (some of Vinny's best production work)

@ybbaaabby You sounded confused about the not inverting the horizontal orientation. May I direct you to something I wrote a while back in an effort to help you to understand better.

The way it seems you are thinking of it is as a camera which has the stick out the back, whereas a better way to look at it is as a stick out the top of the head, and turning as banking.

I really wanted to like NBA 2K's MyTeam mode last year. I finally understood and got hooked on MLB The Show's Diamond Dynasty last year, and even moreso this year, but experiencing 2K's version in between two stellar fantasy experiences led to this being the first year I not only didn't pre-order NBA 2K since 2004 but also am seriously considering not buying it (in all likelihood, I'll get it during a sale, but still, I used to count the days til this game's release).

The difference between DD and MyTeam is so massive; the primary problem with 2K's model is that they have an in-game currency called MT that is seperate from VC and is the only currency you can use to directly bid for cards in the auction house (which is a whole other can of worms compared to the UI in any other fantasy mode). Gita Jackson writing about the microtransactions everyone else is talking about on Kotaku implied VC is now the only currency in the game, but I assume she like many others was only playing this game for MyCareer and didn't encounter MT in MyTeam.

You cannot earn enough MT at a rapid enough pace to afford any of the best players in the game unless all you do, all day long, is play this game. Thus you are forced to spend your VC on card packs with random drops and constantly work the auction house hoping to accumulate MT so you can stop gambling on packs and get players you actually want. There are also very few single player rewards for MT, thus forcing you online where the specific scoring system of MyTeam (you earn MT through executing basketball plays that often result in a game very much not resembling basketball) forces everyone to play like an asshole desperate for money, which they are!

While The Show allows direct purchasing of their currency, stubs, those stubs can be spent as you see fit. Want to gamble on a card pack? Do it! Want to purchase a specific player? Sure, it costs ~300,000 stubs / $300 to get Bryce Harper and that's insane for a single player in a game with a handful of similarly talented players, but if you really want Bryce Harper and want to spend the money, you know the price. In 2K's mode, you can purchase that VC everyone's griping about in MyCareer and use it to get specific things you want in that mode, but in MyTeam you can (or could, if this has changed from the previous two years and MT is no longer second currency) only spend VC on the packs and the random chance you get something valuable enough to sell for a large chunk of MT. It's an insane system, and really made me look at one of my favorite developers for over a decade as toxic and uninterested in the best interests of their fans.

As a huge basketball fan it's really disappointing to me to see where the game's priorities have shifted over this generation. MyPlayer/MyCareer used to be a trifle I could ignore while people who generally don't enjoy sports games or understand the sport or happen to enjoy the way the game operates on Player Lock can have a reason to purchase 2K. Now it's the only thing anyone ever talks about with the game, it's even become nearly half the conversation points on the OperationSports forums which are just about the only safe haven you can find from whatever a given sports game's microtransaction mode is. All Reddit threads for all sports games are just ultimate team and career mode posts, and most articles on gaming sites talk entirely about them as well. If all this effort could be redirected towards the franchise modes, I think sports games would be in a much healthier place from a psychological perspective, but of course they wouldn't be making nearly as much money.

Really spicy food almost always gives me hiccups for a few minutes after the first bite.
