Re their Minecraft video content: I mean... there was the Spongebob that was built and then had additions made... (and maybe chat brought it up and they addressed it later and I just got there)

The only game I remember getting the final trophies and platinum trophy right at the end of the game was Ghost of Tsushima, usually I have a few more levels to gain, or items to collect, or something, after I finish the last boss, in order to get the last trophies.

Who the hell is out here saying Barnstorming is bad? Shameful. You should be ashamed.

Jeff's comment at 1:24:00 makes me wonder if a second video game crash is possible for similar reasons which lead to the original one. I'd say it's probably not, with how diversified the industry is on the whole and with games press to help bring attention to good games, but the mobile market sure does bare a lot of similarities to the oversaturation of the market with regards to Atari in '83 (although I'd doubt this is a new observation).

Is it weird that when I heard @brad explaining at 18min mark, I thought to myself "I bet he is doing the hand thing"... pulled up the video... and yep... he is.. One of his mannerisms I noticed over a decade ago... and strangely his voice gets very specific when he does it.

COD sizes is why I don't touch Warzone. Since I am one to jump games a ton. I could go from playing a game every day to just a once in a while. Huge reason why I was happy IOI released a free version of Hitman 3. I was able to transfer my H1 and H2 stuff and save like 40 gigs. Since I just like leaving it installed.

@brad The replicator in Returnal will revive you once if you die in the first biome. You must have paid for it but then went onto the second biome and didn’t die making the replicator useless at that point.

@wrathematician: Interesting thought, but I think it ignores the fact that mobile as a whole still makes money hand over fist, and is actually CONSTANTLY iterating. The inherent instability of the medium, but combined with the absolutely insane userbase and earnings potential means that there's lots of incentive to spend tons of money to stay at the top of the mountain with the next new thing.

Of course, a few megacorps have the staff and money to make all the successful games - even taking good innovative ideas from smaller teams, stealing them, doing them slightly better, and making tons of money. Anyway, we might have a crash, but it'd probably look and feel different.

@vinny Anyone in the US should lock your credit with the three credit bureaus. Part of the reason for locking your credit for obvious ID theft protection reasons is that the three credit bureaus cannot then sell your information for advertising purposes (which is their primary revenue stream). It won't completely cut down on the nonsense, but it will cut it back quite a bit and might prevent some of the creepy information based advertising you get. What most people don't realize is that the credit bureaus, while somewhat government regulated, are really just private companies looking to sell stuff and not a financial arm of the government. The only minor inconvenience is unlocking your credit report when you have to get a hard credit check for a loan or something, but it's not difficult to get a temporary unlock for the credit check with the credit bureau sites and apps.

@cyrribrae Really solid points. I'd say especially with the inherit high demand of almost everyone having a cell phone and wanting to use it to play mobile games to kill some time every so often, there's not much of a chance of a large scale, industry-wide crash in that realm, although I think the parallels are still interesting.

In all the talk of buying and selling digital games, I'm really surprised that nobody brought up the Steam Marketplace, since you *can* buy and sell DLC cosmetic items in a bunch of games. Like usually you can either buy the DLC item for full price, or go on the marketplace and find it cheaper. I don't see what the devs get out of it, it seems like the marketplace always undercuts them.

Granted, Valve is the only platformer holder who is weird enough to ever implement that, and policing it sounds like it is kind of a nightmare with all the scams and social engineering to rob people of their high rarity TF2/CSGO stuff to sell for a profit.

Hard disagree with Alex on Trophies. The rare trophy pop on Xbox is amazing and so gratifying. The playstation trophy system is shit and being playstation-centric last gen probably contributed to this feeling for them. Source: I was on Playstation all last gen.

@mechanized: not too get all console wars, either, but I completely agree! The Xbox "pop" is so much better than PlayStations. I still get excited when it happens.

I care about achievements. Hell, I even still care about Steam achievements. Been playing AC Origins and I'm so happy they finally put Steam achievements for an AC game - none of the AC games prior to Origins had them. I spent the time to get 100% achievements. Hopefully Valhalla gets them as well once it hits Steam (Odyssey does).

EDIT: I guess this is the last HotSpot (again), huh...

What happened to Toys for Bob and a lot of Activision studios, has given me more appreciation for the things Bungie has done to control their own fate. I mean it's crazy that they were just able to leave Microsoft despite being owned by them and then later to be able leave their Activision deal with the Destiny IP. If I ever had to do some huge deal, I would want the negotiators who work for Bungie.

Jeffs online bingo story reminds me of when I was a kid and we got our first computer that had the internet. (an HP running Windows ME) It was probably 2001 or somewhere around there that I got really into playing keno and a few other games like that on POGO and would annoy people in the chats there lol.

As much as Sony kind of mucked up dealing with big games, there's no reason for any game to be 500gb. No reason whatsoever.

The market doesn't need games that big. I'm more inclined to tell Activision to cut the shit than I am to tell Sony to "Be better at dealing with the one, maybe, two games that'll ever get this big". It's ridiculous. On top of the storage issue you have to deal with the data caps and other garbage.
