Hell Yes!

It looks like they improved the human running animation that was so bad in the E3 trailer. That was a big woof from me, but this looks a lot better. Overall, this looks way less janky than I was expecting/has been shown. That's v good!

The most surprising thing is that the faces and hair don't look like
trash by default. I almost thought that was an engine curse by now.
Edit: I had assumed this was the Fallout/Skyrim engine since it looks like a cool mod for Fallout, but it's actually Unreal. I hang my tail in shame.

That said, really looking forward to this game, a little disappointed it's not as
massive as, say, Fallout. But that's just me having too much time at my paws.

"Expressive faces" "Doesn't look wooden like a bethesda game"? What game are alex and dan looking at? She's just doing lip flaps with dead eyes and stone set brows. I have high hopes for this game, but some of the stuff said during this seems super out of touch with reality. This game is looking like a bethesda game in some of the ways you don't want, and hearing them say stuff like this while looking at footage like that makes any future review highly suspect.

@geirr: what are you talking about? Unreal isn't generally known for trash faces or hair. Did you think this uses gamebryo or something because your comment makes no sense otherwise?

I am all for this compared to the awful models and anims that derive from gamebryo.

I personally had little interest in this game until seeing this video. Completely have done a 180 on my feelings and wanna buy it now because of the polish and love this seems to be infused with.

It seems like they applied the same shader to people's skin and clothing? Some characters look like all-plastic action figures.

@steveurkel: Okay, let me attempt bridging the mental gap you're experiencing here, dogs are known for such. I had assumed this was using the Fallout/Skyrim engine (Creation?) since the game is basically those with some cartoony shaders ontop.

Wow, this looks amazing.

Those cinematic abilities are waaay too much.

Now that this game is coming to Switch, it is my absolute most-anticipated game... maybe ever? Fallout: New Vegas is one of my favorite games of all time, and this looks like that, in space, but without the Bethesda-engine jank.

I wonder if that suspicion meter would have drained slower if Dan didn't have his gun out all the time.

EDIT: Or maybe not. The speed it was draining doesn't seem as bad as I was worried it was, especially if it resets from room to room.

Companions, ship and planets. My kotor vibes are tingling.

I played 100+ hours of Skyrim and never actually finished the main story.

I'm sold.

Hmh, I was ready for this to be a full on Fallout clone, but this sure seems like more of a budget version.

@juantopo89: Obsidian themselves have said that, of all their previous games, the one that’s closest to The Outer Worlds when it comes to scope, average playtime and structure is KotOR II. Which is pretty much exactly what I want, honestly.

Why would you ever want to skip those cinematics, looks great!

@kirkyx: Well now im more excited about this than any other game, i don't like how this get compared intermediately to Fallout forgetting all the other awesome games Obsidian has made.

I know this will sound stupid, I never liked the look or gameplay of any of the Fallout games.

I'm hoping this will not be like the Fallout games because the concept of this game sounds fun.

Edit: Ok, I really love the look of this. And I do like that it doesn't appear to have that FO jank that made it unplayable for me. And it seems this game will be on Game Pass so that's it, I'm "sold".

Looking forward to picking this up later this year! :-) Seems engaging and encourages the more you put in, the more you'll get out of the experience.

I like this new direction!

I was pretty bummed out when they said it was moving to the EGS but the fact that it's available in the PC Game Pass at launch is what sold me to play it. Actually looking forward to it now.

This game looks awesome. Really impressed by the combat actually. Looks very weighty and the sounds are great.

They should rename this game to "Fallout: But Good"

Not sold on the environment 100% but everything else ticks the right boxes for me.

Most of the Elder scrolls/ fallout games end up being too big for me so this looks perfect size wise so far + it being on Game Pass is great

I might give into EGS for this.

Loving everything I'm seeing here. I like the item, inventory design in general but maybe the area Dan was playing in was a bit uninspired. Though considering we saw just one area not really worried of that aspect yet.

Combat actually looks extremely good. Just got a new ultra wide IPS monitor and I'm all geared up for some story driven shooty RPG.

That was my beginning impression when the video started, and I never lost it. The faces don't look real great to me, but they are decent and serviceable. Fallout+... In fact, Everything seemed to be Fallout the next generation.

I'm in for this game, for pretty much the same reasons I wanted to be in for Borderlands 3. But I have the idea The Outer Worlds is not going to fall short.

Just to acknowledge it, I get that others are saying this game patterns itself more after another, KotOR ll

@lunacantabile: Yeah, I have no idea what they are talking about either. I assume it is residual "Bethesda sucks, am I right?" after Fallout 76 and the game itself seeming like at least a somewhat better version of how the Elder Scrolls and Fallout games have been. That or they are for some reason still thinking of Oblivion when they think of Bethesda faces.

If these faces and mouths look good to them, clearly they've been playing too many early access/Switch games, or Dan has played Switch Skyrim too recently.
