I was really hoping Jack Gallagher would roll Tozawa around in that ball like that clip of Daniel Bryan from Saturday Morning Slam.

I'm glad the guys gave Alexa Bliss props. She looked frigging incredible at Backlash. I hadn't really paid much attention to her before because pretty much my only interest in the SD women's division had been Becky... and I also fell into the trap of thinking Alexa fit into that more traditional "Diva" type mould... but holy crap, she's really good in the ring... but what's even better than that is she's such a fucking good heel! For some reason, believable female heels seem to be quite rare. Paige is pretty good at it but Bliss just has it nailed. The facials, the way she carries herself, all of it is fantastic.

I'm not going to pretend to be any kind of brain scientist, but I'm sure if you took all of the WWE roster and put them through the same tests that Bryan went through, there would be a number of red flags that would go off. Randy Orton especially doing RKOs while still being inactive from a concussion given to him by Lesnar is very worrisome to me.

they should do more episodes with Drew or with someone who doesn't know much about wrestling. I really like this podcast but I don't think I've seen one match of wrestling. Drew was a really good stand-in for the rest of us who don't know what the hell they are talking about.

This has been a sensational summer of wrestling, and continues the trend of "2016 is a weird, fucking year in wrestling."

The Cruiserweight Classic is one of the best events that WWE has ever put together. Ever episode had a very good to great match, and some top tier talent put on a hell of a show. Guys like Jack Gallagher became household names for wrestling fans, and Zack Sabre Jr, Tozawa, and Kota Ibushi got some huge North American exposure.

This year's G1 Climax might have been the best one ever. Okada and Tanahashi has another god damned classic, Kenny Omega has two match of the year contenders in consecutive nights, Marufuji and Nakajima from Pro Wrestling NOAH stood out in a tournament full of huge names, Toru Yano was a god damn hilarious watch, and that just scratched the surface of how well done the whole thing was.

PWG's Battle of Los Angeles sounds like it was spectacular again this year with The Young Bucks finally getting that coveted "Five Star Match" from Dave Meltzer.

And that doesn't include the good shows that AAA, CMLL, Dragon Gate, Chikara, and numerous other independent promotions had the last few months.

There is enough good wrestling out there that you can flat out avoid anything WWE and still find your fix. It has never been more accessible to watch good wrestling.

Alex mentions the Omega/Goto match from G1 Finals as a match to go out and watch, but I super duper recommend seeing (possibly my favorite match of the year) Kenny Omega vs. Tetsuya Naito from the show before that got Omega into the finals if you only have time to watch one New Japan match.

I've only seen like over half of the CWC and it's pretty great. Congratulations to fellow duder Jack Gallagher. You made it to an official Giant Bomb podcast image. Not many fans of this website could claim such a thing. This podcast is still my favorite piece of premium content. I count on you guys to keep me abreast of all awful things happening in the main roster programs that I actively avoid. Thanks again and keep up the great work.

I know the look they were going for with her was Harley Quinn, but she seemed more like a bizarro-world, evil version of Juliet Starling from Lollipop Chainsaw. That is a totally amazing thing.

They need to pick a roster/brand and stick with it. I love the roster but I'll only watch the ppvs as the natch quality is great but the show sucks. NXT is kind of aimless now, so I've stuck to SmackDown and I'm enjoy it way more now.

CWC was fantastic, and the first time in a while where I actively tried to avoid wrestling spoilers. If they do a version of this for the women and it's made up of 32 Ember Moons, sign me up!

I think I disagree with their wish that the cruiserweights get characters and angles on RAW for two reasons:

1)The writers (re: Vince) kinda suck at making compelling characters.

2) A lot of those guys already HAVE pretty interesting personalities.

I'd rather them keep the quasi-UFC feel the CWC had to give the show something completely different.

I gotta say I agree with Dan on the CWC. I understand why some wrestling fans like it, but it's honestly a little too "real" wrestling for me. I also have the same feelings on NXT. I just have a hard time caring if there's no story reason for the match.

Did Daniel Bryan get better on commentary in the latter half of the CWC? Cause honestly he was terrible on commentary. From straight up sounding bored to way overblown reactions (especially the first two Zack Sabre Jr. match), he was probably worse than JBL or Jerry Lawler is nowadays. The best part was when he said the best part of wrestling was getting on top of another man and hearing him go "URRGGGG".

I've been enjoying Smackdown but I can barely handle RAW anymore. Smackdown is only two hours long and feels like a consistently decent show every week with cool matches and story beats. On the other hand, RAW is just so long and full of nothing segments. The only worthwhile things that happen are at the start and end of the show.

Read recaps online.

Listen to The Law podcasts for Raw and Smackdown,

Watch the PPV's on the network.

I honestly feel the Lesner steroid stuff isn't that big a deal for the WWE. Their drug policy is very strict and is meant to protect the performers who work most nights, travel 300 days a year and are susceptible to pain medication abuse or steroids abuse. Suspending part-timers doesn't help anyone, presumably anyone in that situation has the money to look after themselves medically and if they choose to use steroids to get into ring shape that's their choice. If the Rock wanted to come back for another match and juiced to look good in the ring I wouldn't really care, it's entertainment after all; you hear of actors doing it quite a bit for movie roles.

I feel it would have been a huge overreaction to remove him from the cover of the game, I do agree I'd rather a guy like Rollins or Owens etc. but it's not like he did something truly deplorable (like a lot of other legends who have been on the game's cover) and he for sure would get the game more exposer than other wrestlers, he's the biggest draw in UFC and WWE.

I agree with everything else though, they are treading water with Lesner, Orton shouldn't have been working hurt and shouldn't have been dealt that shit hand of a match.

Also, the Dan episode of Alt+F1 is probably my favourite episode, even if it means I had to do without Drew. Dan trying to make sense of both: motorsports in general, and how European/vaguely upper class F1 is, were both pretty great aspects.

I was trying to write the same thing, but instead I'll just quote you :D

Seriously though, I agree 100%. Performance enhancing drug abuse in professional sports has pretty much been a given the last half a century or so. Most top level athletes are just protected or smart enough to not get caught.

I'm not defending Brock but there's another UFC fighter that popped for the same estrogen blocker as Lesnar. Jon Jones says he's innocent and can prove he popped because of a supplement he was taking. Could be the same for Brock...

The whole steroid / Lesnar thing is not a cut and dry case, and the WWE isn't bound to take action against him, especially as he may prove his innocence anyway and get his suspension revoked.

Does Dan really not understand why Holey Foley is on the network? It is this simple, there is a couple, the male in this relationship like wrestling, the female doesn't. Ideally, the female in this relationship will fall in love with the wacky-ness of the Foley family and (in her eyes) justify the boyfriend/husband spending money of a possibly shared budget on the network.
