Even GDQ isnt as wholesome as people think although a lot of progress has been made. Still a lot of gross stuff you hear about on occasion, it just never really gets talked about to regularly because speedrunning is so niche and people really only talk about it a lot once or twice a year.

I feel like Wordle was a test of seeing if everyone could be cool about a silly little thing, and boy could some people not be at all cool about it. It felt like a fun 90's-Internet type thing you could enjoy with some friends, and then some current-Internet assholes tried their best to ruin it.
