Giant Bomb Presents: This Dude Holds the Future of Darksiders in His Hands

Nordic Games acquired a bunch of THQ franchises earlier this year, including Darksiders, MX vs. ATV, and Titan Quest. The company's head of business and product development, Reinhard Pollice, breaks down what it's like to participate in the auction of a dying business.

I find it tough to think they can make the Darksiders 3 that we all want... Unless they re-sell the IP to Cryteck so the old Vigil guys can work on it =/

I have the same doubts as you. Darksiders and part II were both great games. While I disliked the second at first, I replayed it a while later and decided it was the better of the two.

Those games are all about that amazing art design, grim yet colorful landscape, the feel of the traversal, cool puzzles...

I just don't think you can pass that on to someone else and expect it to be of the same quality. I do hope Darksiders III gets made though.

I think the guy listened to Patrick's Diary and knowing just how freaking tired the guy is, he's DELIBERATELY speaking so passionless and silent, trying to make Patrick fall a sleep in the middle of the interview. Probably has a bet going or so...

seems he lost though.

Man I hope Nordic Games will call the Crate guys, they are ex devs on TQ, currently working on Grim Dawn. They'd be perfect for TQ2.

Great idea to talk to this dude. It's interesting hearing him talk about these franchises as assets.

Very interesting interview. I feel like these guys came out of nowhere buying all those properties so it's nice to hear from them.

It's really interesting hearing a more business-y side; normally any discussion this aspect (IP management, etc) is so couched in hypotheticals and vague references to avoid letting out secrets, saying anything bad about anyone, etc. A little dry maybe, but super neat!

Cool hearing a little bit about the business side of buying game IPs.

This guy seemed pretty earnest about the key franchises that they acquired. He was pretty low-key but seemed to understand the sort of care which they need to do right by the likes of Darksiders and Red Faction.

I'm not super optimistic, but at least I think Darksiders 3 could go either way, now, which is better than I had been assuming. If they get the ex-Vigil guys on board, then I might actually look forward to any sequel that comes out.

I'm with you. I still don't think Darksiders is in the best hands it could be, but the guy did make it sound like they would try their best and aren't just in for money.
