What the hell, I came back from work to an epilogue for my favorite GB series in years? This April snow doesn't seem to matter anymore!
Last time I played this was before I knew anything about Castlevania. No idea that hidden battle starts off against a Belmont with a techno remix (and considering that's the only way I played Hard Corps, I fought that dude a hundred plus times)

Oh, this was live? I'm sad I missed it, but to be fair I was playing Super Metroid. I've never beaten that game and I plan to finally do so on my SNES Classic.
you lucky bastard. you only get to do that once. enjoy every second of it.
I've actually tried to do it three times so far! The first was via emulation about 17+ years ago. The second was after acquiring a cartridge so I could play it on my SNES. And the third was on my Wii Virtual Console. I'm confident I'll do it this time!

The reason speedrunners love Fang is because: : "An exploit is possible with the Power Punch[B] where the blast can be turned into a fully charged shot from the Psychic Blaster[D]. This is done by using the Power Punch[B] and then switching to the Psychic Blaster[D] (preferably as fast as possible). This allows Fang to shoot fully charged Psychic Blaster shots at will and can be used continuously in order to take down bosses at an impressive pace."
I somehow thought it couldn't be better/more bullshit than the main run. I was wrong.

I'd be okay if Vinny gets an ending with Fang next time and they leave it at that.
Fang is kind of a high skill = high reward type character. Very good damage if your positioning is right but not forgiving of mistakes. Speed runners like him for the high damage and, if the speedrun category allows it, a glitch that lets him instantly and repeatedly shoot his charge shot at full power.

That entire secret ending is like the kind of nonsense a three-year-old comes up with. What I'm saying is that it's great.

I'm not sure how much sense this makes, since the jungle level's end boss fires homing missiles immediately prior to its third form, but I believe that the reasoning behind the slight differences in this particular boss battle can be attributed in part to the fact that Deadeye Joe is dead. Since he blew himself up at the end of the second level, Deadeye Joe isn't piloting the jungle level's end boss. In the other path, you may remember that he came out of the robot prior to the battle starting and said that this place would be your graveyard; he doesn't do that in this alternate path.
EDIT: By the way, Vinny vs. the homing fireball is arguably one of the funniest things to have happened during their time with Contra: Hard Corps yet.

Oh hell yes! I needed some more of that delicious delicious Contra Hard Corps soundtrack in my life again. So happy this is for fun! WOO. I did all the endings too back in the days, it's some neat stuff.
From "I missed this game" to "Oh god, can we find some codes that work?" in an hour.
Good old Contra Hard Corps.

They don't make games like Contra HC anymore. I miss multiple endings, branching paths and weird extra stuff. Guess you can only get there when it was cheap enough to just keep making sprites.
At least we got back to games with bullshit difficulty.
This episode made me appreciate Contra more. So far I failed to realise the difference in character and what impact it had on the difficulty of the game. Robot dude is easy with his natural doding of moves and homing weapons. Wolf dude looks like very hard. Giant hitbox and low range on weapons.

Here's the track that plays at around 16:20, when they're talking to the battle arena dude. Not only is it a rad song, but as you can see, it's called 'Jurassic Dope,' which is possibly the sickest Jurassic Dopest name any song has ever had.

I love that the now running story of this is that Vinny always beats the game solo.
