The Giant Bomb staff is notorious for completely forgetting how to play a game if there's any length of time between sessions. If they aren't recording these attempts one right after another then i could see this entire series being 20 min videos of the first couple levels over and over.

Based on what I remember about playing Contra, we will have several videos in this series.

@dirtybirdy: I'll delete my reply too to respect that decision.

This is going to be a great series, Dan going to GBeast is already paying off.

I'll be honest here, I'm not sure if I ever played Contra. Certainly never owned it.

Did they do something to the set up? The face cams are super crisp.

I think Vinny and Dan are going to make a good team

Bite-sized premium content is something I FULLY SUPPORT!! 2 hour streams are fun and all, but sometimes I just need a quick hit of silliness.

Suggestions:

- I love Contra. If you split these runs between multiple videos, you're never going to beat Contra unless it's daily or you record everything in a sitting to remember stuff. It'd be nice to jump between games in the series instead of having a multi-year Breaking Brad of the first game. We already have Vinnyvania and Blue Bombin' for complete master playthroughs.

- This would be a fun way to see different games, say Streets of Rage or Battletoads or a game of Starcraft. Jeff plays old games at home but usually with a bunch of cheats. Playing with default settings gives us some legitimate tension.

Anyway, watching this was quite pleasant.

I'm pretty sure that in that NES Flashback GameSpot filmed in 2005 that Jeff said that he was able to beat Contra without the code.

The premise of this series is confusing, especially thanks to the deck; "We're going to play all of Contra in one sitting. We're going to give it one try and once we run out of continues, that's it, we're done. We'll keep doing that until we've beaten it."

Really seems like the feature should be an ever rotating set of games.

I guarantee that they are recording a number of these in succession. It is just like the style of let's plays on youtube. Record like 10 episodes in a row, release 1 a day for 2 weeks. Didn't the endurance runs turn into the same thing by the end? Maybe not every episode, but some were definitely done on the same day.

This is going to be a long series... The Dan+Vinny combo is pretty good.

I wonder how often this series will hit. To really beat Contra, they'll have to play enough of this game with constant frequency to get it down to rote memorization. I'm pretty sure the only reason I can beat Contra without 30 lives is because I've played this game pretty much over the course of my entire life over and over again.

@dr_insane: I agree. I love the content they've been producing the last couple of months, but Vinny is at his best with strange things like Contradiction and Life is Strange and open world adventures where he can really get crazy. I hope to keep seeing stuff like this, but i want more Vinny too!

As much as I'll miss Dan + Drew, Dan + Vinny is shaping up quite nicely.

am i wrong, or are the guys one cover of the box of contra based on Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone? Also Super C is a better game. I hope you guys find your way to Metal Storm. R Types and beat Bubble Bobble together to get the real ending. I love guys, stay sexy.

Can I get someone's opinion on the most satisfying experience in co-op gaming? I remember beating the first Halo on legendary with my cousin and spending hours playing Contra and Super C with my uncle and both were memorable for different reasons. I never played it, but Goof Troop for the SNES looks really cool and introduces mechanics that were considered somewhat new in modern indie games. I heard it compared to Brothers, but i could be completely off base. Dude...If you guys played Secret of Mana....okay...sorry....i'm getting a nerd boner.

I really like Vinny and Dan together. I see great and stupid things in their future shenanigans.
