Yeah the trick to this game is to get spread and never die.

Vinny only does the Grover voice to his kids. And Dan.

Love the new concept but not as much as Vinny's Miss Piggy voice.

I laughed way harder at that than I should have.

I think two times a week would be the minimum requirement for them to do steady progress. It doesn't seem like this was all that time-confusing to produce, so with a bit of luck; we'll get just that.

That said, this was really fun, and I actually really appreciate some short-form content mixed in among all the multiple hour long videos we get on Fridays (and sometimes Wednesdays)

I'm happy that Dan is on the east coast now because meshes real well with Vinny. This series will be fun.

I'm surprised they went live with this feature; my assumption would have been they record several different runs back to back, MGS style. I suppose it makes for some great morning coffee content though!

Pro tip! Weapons do stack! Two spread guns means double spreader. Add a rapid power up for the ultimate weapon! Works great for machine gun too, which was my favorite.

This is the (endurance) run. Is it me or is it crazy easy to just be prone in the rooms while shooting? The only danger are those rolling containers which you can shoot. Or is it still hard to move out the way for them when you're prone? I never played Contra

That's not entirely accurate about picking up 2 spreadgun powerups, I think?

Picking up an "R" powerup (for "Rapid" fire) definitely stacks bonuses to whatever weapon you're currently wielding, but picking up any other kind of powerup doesn't, or at least not to my mildly foggy knowledge.

Initially prepared to be a bit disappointed after seeing the video run time. But seeing the video/understanding the format, this is going to be a lot of fun.

As kids my brother and I would say the "F" power stood for "French Fries" because it looked like a curly fry when you shot it.

Kinda digging the short-form "enough time to do a simple chore in" runtime on this!

Remember for all that modern stuff, it's probably a lot more difficult/risky if someone wanted to give them a takedown notice. With something like Contradiction, it doesn't surprise me that didn't happen, those guys were likely THRILLED for the free publicity, but I'm shocked they got away with a full playthrough of something like Life is Strange the year it came out.

@undeadpool: Full playthroughs of games online is just a normal occurrence now. I don't think anyone outside of Nintendo ever bothers with shit like that.

Dig the idea of this series and looking forward to them beating this. I have foggy memories of beating this game long ago with my cousin

It's gonna be interesting how they only do one run per episode, though... if they don't do these often enough, their skills might start to become diminished.

I also hope they don't stick to just co-op games but go for some pass & play style stuff with single player games, too (ideally with each player having their own run with 3 continues).

Actually, come to think of it, any scrolling/space shooter would work really well for this format, but I suppose if they eventually decide to do any arcade games for this, they'd have to impose the rules of limited continues on themselves. Or they could also just perhaps try for a 1 credit clear on those games.

I was so excited for Dan's Mike Tyson daily thing back at the old office. The way that ended up concluding was funny, but it will be cool to get that feature finally realized for other games. Can't wait to see more.

I'm so confused. When I was a little kid I played a game called Probotector, which looks EXACTLY the same as this but you play as robots instead of humans. Is this a regional thing or something?

Dan and Vinny might be my new favorite bomb crew combination.

@jetpaction: Yes, Probotector is the name used for the game in PAL territories.

This game was completely redone for EU with robots instead of humans and called Probotector. I don't think I have played it. For me the co-op NES shooter was Ikari Warriors.

Probotector is the verision I grew up with. I personally think that the robots look way cooler than the Contra dudes.

@heatdrive88: I think you're right except I do believe the"R" does stack. Its hard to notice at first but after you pick up a couple more your gun is noticeably more powerful.
