It seems like the made The Division, but better in several ways, which is kind of exactly what a sequel is supposed to achieve. I'll definitely play this, but I think I'll wait for some relatively steep discounting. I enjoyed The Division 1 a fair bit and I love the idea of post-apocalyptic Washington D.C. as a setting.

I don't understand Ben's opinion on DC. It's one of the most iconic cities in the country. Also it makes perfect sense a Tom Clancy game would be set in DC. I can't wait to get into this DC seems cool to skulk around in.

I'd 100% recommend going where your friends are, the game gets kinda dull playing by yourself.

The Revive Hive is even more useful than it was made out to be here, it will activate and self res you if you get downed in free roam or missions. It's a life saver if you're playing solo.

Despite the ludonarrative dissonance of murdering tons of potentially politically misguided individuals and the ragging by everyone on how boring it is, I still am really wanting to get this just as a good way to unwind. Unfortunately I want to play with a friend and my PS4 is currently not mine to use.

Know it sounds dumb but I also wish more of these cooperative loot games had options for AI teammates.

I'm not sure how a simple at a glance comparison would really work in this game. The system they have is basically identical to Borderlands 2.

The numbers that already exist are useful for comparing similar weapon types and they make them green or red based on what you have equipped. But you can't directly compare a sniper rifle to an LMG because different weapon types are useful in different situations. High rate of fire is better at close range, larger magazines mean you have to reload less, etc etc.

Even a DPS number is complicated cause you have to factor in encounter length. A shotgun will have higher burst DPS in a short encounter but an LMG will have better sustained DPS in a longer encounter.

There's just so many factors to take into account.

It works in Destiny because the number on your weapon is meaningless and just contributes to an abstract overall power level. If the number is higher then it makes you more powerful plain and simple.

Even in Diablo 3 those quick comparison numbers can be misleading.

@nach0sanchez: It's video game boring in that all the "iconic" bits are there for an audience to easily digest if they've never been here. All the interesting stuff is either further outside of the main drag of the city (monuments and government buildings) or inside of certain buildings like private museums and certain think tanks. I work up and down bits of the city for my job and can tell you that the parts they want to show for the video game map will not be as interesting as the DC they could show if they wanted to show spots people who live here know about. That said, I am anxious to see what Foxhall Road and Embassy Row look like in this game.

So I dont understand, questions about the press generally using the PS4 version of games in the first half of the gen got the same answer back from the press about why they did that ("we play what they send out" or something along those lines).

So please do tell why all of these games with a MS deal in place, where they are very much sending out Xbox versions by default (to get X gameplay out there, since it will look the best, and because of the marketing deal), still have most of the press running stuff on to their PS4's.

Either this implies something not that great about you, GB, or says something just as bad about the PS owners that frequent your site - so which is it?

I was getting more of a scumfuck Kurt Russell vibe from Jeff's character. Like, Kurt Russell's dirtbag brother who lives in a trailer park, collecting disability on a fake injury, and always has these scams for how to make some fast cash - starting with going door-to-door in the neighborhood and asking everyone if they have any scrap metal they need hauled away. The kind of dude who has a beer for breakfast.

The gaming journalism industry seems to play all online coop games together on PS4. I'd imagine they're on there simply because it's where the majority are playing. It is weird seeing so many sites like this using ps4 when you'd imagine it was mostly xbox codes sent out? who knows though

I am trying to figure out why Ben was on this QL. Brad is asking actual questions and giving comments. Ben seems to be there just to crack wise about mini drones?

@binarygod I really don't understand the hot take you're implying but that doesn't stop from me thinking its a bad one. They frequently talk about playing games on the Xbox One, specifically Jason. This might be Jeff's personal copy opposed to one of the codes they were sent.

Hey @jeff, most of the gear that drops in the Dark Zone (at least from my experience of an hour or so in DZ East) is NOT contaminated and can be immediately equipped, with contaminated gear being pretty rare but generally better. You actually only picked up one piece of contaminated gear in this QL, which is why only that backpack was in the inbox after extracting. This is a pretty huge change from Division 1 so I understand not realizing it immediately.

I love the first one; it is one of my favorite games this generation, so I'm pretty excited about this. That said, probably because I just got a PS4 Pro and am just excited to try out older games on that and go through some again (like Spider-Man, The Last of Us, etc.) my excitement level for this isn't as high as I was hoping when it comes to the day of release. It's the feeling of having to drop one thing for another. I'm going to be playing it on the Xbox One X later today. The things I hope this game does well is the detail and exploration of D.C. because that was something that made me keep going back to the first game honestly. I just liked being in that place.

The closed beta showed that the gameplay was even better than the first (at least in terms of A.I. and the feeling of shooting), so that's good. I'm also excited to hear the soundtrack. The main story and backstory I kind of suspected wouldn't be the main draw, but hopefully, it's adequate. I appreciated the way they approached backstory in the first by way of cellphone pickups though. I'm curious, did Jeff do all side tasks in a specific area of the map before moving on to be at the necessary level? I feel like that might be a necessity unless you're going in with a friend (which I am not). I'll probably only play the game with my brother after I finish most of the story stuff.

Jeff and Brad seemed to agree with him, but yeah, I'm with you. DC seems much more interesting to me (full disclosure, I lived there for a year for work awhile back). I did enjoy the snowy Christmas setting of the first game, but I have played more games than I can count that were set in New York City and am kind of tired of it.

Clearly, Jeff "Infamous Sell out" Gerstmann has accepted thousands, if not millions of dollars in bribes to play this video game on a PS4. How do you think he affords such cool shoes all the time? Glad you have finally woken up to this scandal and are helping everyone realize it. So many sheeple out there. AFter all, small, homely Microsoft could never afford to bribe Jeff "Traditionally In it for the money since the beginning" Gerstmann. His price is too high.

Man, what a real, actually happening scandal this is.

Isn't it weird that the trade-off for better accuracy is worse critical hit chance? I'd assume that if you're more accurate it'd be easier to get those crits in.

@nach0sanchez: As someone who lives adjacent to and works in DC, I agree with Ben. I don't really get the fascination with DC as a setting for high octane shooters. I love this city, but it's pretty bland visually; 90% of it is row houses, and the rest is the national mall, our other small city parks, and some large federal or municipal buildings. It's a small city, mostly flat, and lacks the verticality and scale of major metropolises like New York, LA, Boston, and Chicago.
