I hope Jeff stops with the soundboard and obnoxious borders in his videos. I've grown increasingly tired of it and really can't stand watching anything he does anymore. He used to be my favorite but the constant barrage of overlaying sound effects are not enjoyable, and really detracts from the game itself.

I, on the other hand, feel the complete opposite. Jeff ain't no square and neither am I. I'm here for the radical overlays and dope sound effects. Grab a Mountain Dew (code red, obviously) and just sit back and let it wash over you.

I'm about to go create a petition that calls for Jeff to never stop never stopping.

this should be boring because i'll never play this game, but jeff and his hud and his awesome soundboard are really fun to watch

@savutano: Thanks for deleting your original comment and reposting something semi-different. Just saying "Naw, it's awesome. Don't like it? The door is over there. Bye." is unnecessarily mean and standoff-ish. I'm entitled to my opinion and comment as a member of this community, and telling me to just leave because I don't like something makes zero sense. Especially since my comment was not mean or offensive and just making a very valid point of wanting to watch something without a ton of soundboard effects being mashed over and over again and the fact that the screen is nearly half just a banner that obfuscates the actual game.

Comments like those make even posting here make people feel unwelcome, and give this community a bad reputation. I figured just by making my comment, I'd get a couple people to just tell me to get out. Looks like I was right. Just because we like different things doesn't mean you need to tell people they should leave, the staff or mods can address that if it really becomes a big deal.

Sorry, Duder. I love the poster borders and the soundboard. It makes Jeff's stream unique to the other members streams. But the most important thing to remember... The Undertaker just picked up the Twisty Rockets!

That 'EVO FULLSPEED' server is one of my favourites, I'm usually in that one or the 'SHORT LOL' one.

Glad to see EVO has brought their stuff over, getting more excited for this, by the day. And also, mini-games? Heck yeah!

Edit 2: Public & Private Club (server) access is exclusive to the Club Level. Standard DOES NOT have access to servers, only the 'Track-of-the-Day' Campaigns. Jeff is right that the wording on the website is somewhat obtuse, and confusing.

@themadman007: Apologies, I wanted to expand on my original thought.

You know what makes the community less awesome? People complaining constantly about everything. Why should they conform to what you think they should be doing? There are other people on this site that stream, and there are other sites.

I've found that the same people who complain about there not being enough content, are the same ones that complain the content that is produced, is not to their liking, or standard. It's unnecessary. They have been a constant for many people, for many years. A source of joy, and comfort, especially in troubling times. I'm grateful for that. I hope you're able to find, what you seek.

@themadman007: You're not wrong. I mean it's not your cup of tea and that's cool. You seem to be getting a lot of strong pushback from people that really love the soundboard but I like to think that not all GB fans have to be in lockstep. It's as if people are worried that a random comment from one random duder will banish the soundboard to the shadow realm.

Personally I wouldn't miss any of the soundboard and overlay stuff if it went away, but I'm mostly indifferent towards at this point. I don't want to see the overlays in actual QL like here so thats perfectly fine and the soundboard kinda is what it is. Jeff goes through phases where he is fascinated by something and goes in 200% so I assume this is one of those times. Also posting here for years I also know better than to suggest any change because it really does typically devolve into 50 people telling you that you're wrong because they like the thing you don't.

As for the QL itself.. well it sure is more Trackmania. It is a funny coincidence that here we are talking about Jeffs use of overlays in the comments and Jeff seems a lot more concerned with how much junk and wacky remixes you can eventually jam into this thing than the game itself. Hopefully they will allow modders to dirty up like before for the folks that are into that sort of stuff.

@savutano What makes the community even less awesome are weirdly passive aggressive posts that defend the staff. I'm sure Jeff and team can stick up for themselves, we don't need to be reminded by other users how hard they are working, especially as a means to put down another user cause they disagree with your opinion.

I, for one, hope that someday Jeff's overlay grows to be so powerful that the actual gameplay is but a postage stamp-sized window in the middle of a sea of other random bullshit.

I'm 100% on Team Overlay.

Overlays are fine for retro stuff where you might not want to scale up the output too much or to hide a difference in aspect ratio. Having it up for a game that runs at a decent resolution and you might actually want to see is not great. Even if it sort of fits what Trackmania is or at least was at some point.

Edit: And yes, the overlay is there only for a quarter of the video.

@humanity: Okay, but weirdly demanding comments are okay, and putting down the staff is as well, got it.

Edit: I've been a fan of most of the crew for a better part of almost 20 years now (obviously some haven't been around since the Gamespot days), I don't always post, but when I don't like something, I just go somewhere else, instead of shitting all over what someone else might like. Since I chose to come to here, I can also choose to leave. I didn't mean to tell someone they should leave, only that it was an option. Everyone is welcome, it's not my place to say someone isn't, and I would never Imply that. I'm sorry if I did.

@savutano: It's all good duder. I think a little good faith back and forth is a good thing. For what it's worth I wasn't singling you out. It seemed like the whole thread was pooring it on 'em.

Opinions are good and the people that bother to comment on threads like this tend to be the people that have a pretty definite take on things. The problem (in general) I guess is tone and how hard it is to convey on the internet. People can get offended or misunderstand and then shoot from the hip. And that just leads to more and more and more and more.

My personal strategy is to try and take everything people write in the most lighthearted way possible. After all none of us would even have accounts if we weren't fans.

@savutano: I guess it didn’t read to me as if he was putting anyone down though which is why I commented in the first place. I’m right there with you that folks who literally demand changes or say he/she is lazy or whatever is garbage and shouldn’t be even entertained with a snarky reply. This just read as someone that generally likes Jeff’s content but is increasingly tired of the overlay gimmick which is hampering their enjoyment of the content which I kinda get. Maybe it came off a bit irritated in tone but sometimes you just gotta say it. I know from experience how frustrating it is to write a small critique of the site and have to open up with a whole paragraph explaining that you mean no disrespect, that you acknowledge all the hard work, that they’re all doing a tremendous job...but..

With a game like Trackmania, how could you *not* have a dumbass overlay?

Jeff's soundboard and evolving stream overlay have done nothing but enhance my viewing experience. I don't understand how this could possibly be polarizing. It's fun.

The people want a weekly Jeff stream called We Be Trackin'!

I feel the exact same way. Jeff was my favorite to watch on the site but now I can't even remember the last time I've actually watched any of his videos for more than 15 minutes. The soundboard and overlay are absolutely unnecessary and obnoxious. I get the joke, but I wish he would move on from it.
