Sometimes we look at a game before it's done. When that's the case? Well... it must be Unfinished.

I am so excited for this game. It doesn't feel like they've improved pathing or AI behaviour much, if at all, which is a huge bummer but otherwise this looks excellent. Jess, do they have room templates you can save and load? They added it to TPH years after so I hope it's in this from day 1.

I wasn't sure about Two Point Hospital so I ended up not trying it but I think I'm gonna give this one a try. Thanks for the QL!

Breaking poor Jan's heart by putting him in Hufflepuff, brutal

The game looks great, I have been meaning to dive into Two Point Hospital for a while now. If it doesn't grab me I'll still give Campus a shot, the theme seems more appealing to me. Both on game pass for PC btw.

I might have to check this out and Two Point Hospital. I loved Theme Hospital as a kid and this retains so much of the charm of that game.

Well, it's still Unfinished, so they might improve that before the game is released! And YES they absolutely do have custom room templates! Sorry I didn't show it off, there's just SO much stuff to do, I didn't wanna spend too much time in menus, haha

I loved Two Point Hospital, but I was worried that Two Point Campus would be more of the same. I am glad to hear that they are shifting the focus to student life rather than administration and I can't wait to play it.

I also murmur to myself sometimes when playing a game.

@voidburger: Great! Thank you for the info. It looks like you had many hours of footage to edit down so I understand why you wouldn't include that.

I appreciate the sleeptalking-style running commentary from Past Jess, could definitely imagine waking myself up commenting on my own dream saying shit like "Oh Mr Cheesy Goblin, your Majesty, you're so regal, and cheesy"

As a Theme Hospital enthusiast, i'm very happy these games are out there. And man, these graphics and the amount of amazing animations is such a great fit for this whimsical humor. But i can't help but watch their games and wonder what else they could've done on a gameplay-level to differentiate it from 97's Theme Hospital. It's been 25 years! There are quality of life options for sure, but the general gameplay loop has mostly been kept intact the way it always was.

I think there would be potential here to make you focus on a few key students and do little objectives & quest lines with them that you get to influence the outcome of. Like maybe you have 5 valedictorians of classes that influence their classmates, but they all have their personalized wants & needs & their own quest. Sometimes a valedictorian will be a complete asshole and you might want to fuck up their quests to get them kicked out of school or for a more pleasant individual to become the class leader. Maybe you try to get the goody-two shoes to infiltrate into the troublemakers friend-group so you can gather dirt. Or you fuck up a guy's date so he becomes a goth with huge boosts to the dark arts. While a successful date would make him boost the happiness of his fellow students.

I also think it would be fun to have little mysteries to solve. Who smeared poop over the bathroom walls? Which kid smuggled weed in the dorms? Why does a group of kids sneak out at night to go to the forest?

Or maybe you have timed events where you have to organize a last school day-stunt or do a christmas ball where you have to re-decorate the school and appoint students and teachers to make it all a success.. or it ends in chaos and you end up with a burning xmas tree.

Basically i think this game could use a tiny sniff of crusader kings & bully, make you interact with certain student's lifes a bit more over the course of a game instead of mostly keeping the gameplay on a macro-level where all student's mostly have superficial differences and you basically try to satisfy as many as possible with your actions. I want a rich donor to send his troublemaker kid to my school and have him completely fuck up all my classes and rooms if i don't supervise him enough.

I also still feel like there's something to be done about these games turning every location into the same square rooms inside square-ish buildings with standard-ass hallways that you don't really personalize all that much.

That said, for what this is right now, it already looks like a lot of fun and i'd definitly pick this up and have a ton of fun with it.

hah live reacting to prerecorded footage of past Jess live reacting to an unfinished demo. Fun times. I never quite saw the appeal of these games, but I should probably try these out on Game Pass, huh? Is Hospital still available on there? Hmm..

I don’t have much to add here other than I liked that it was edited and talked over. This could have easily been a rambling, 90 minute video with lots of dead time, but there was a lot of care put into this.

For the game itself, I was put off the art style of TPH, but I think I’ll give this a try when it comes out. Thanks!
