11 minutes seems real short for this type of thing.

All I was saying is that I feel like the look of her armor and/or animations in this game make her look too obviously female, even when covered in full body armor.

I would just prefer if it was more ambiguous, as it seems the original intent was

You mean ambiguous like when Samus dies and her suit explodes to reveal a clearly half naked woman?

To be fair that was after 2 but I don't have any issue with them making her armor look more female. As long as they aren't sexing her up I don't really see any problem with it.

There's something about this games art style I don't like. I mean I'll probably buy it anyway because Metroid. But that AM2R fan game last year had a cooler look to it.

I'm into this. I like the look of the graphics and the gameplay looks smooth. Basically, this looks like the kind of Metroid I've been waiting for. Let's hope it's good.

@fatalbanana: I pretty much agree, and it's no big deal. But I feel like it was part of the point of the character, even if it might be superfluous now.

Glad to be proven wrong in how I felt about this game. Looks like it handles well, especially seeing Ben pull off some split-second counters having only played a handful of minutes.

Also, as an aside, for how archaic and restrictive Nintendo's PR terms are, their reps are always really easygoing and play off of the crew well.

I think I might buy this game when it comes out, pending reviews. it's looking good so far.

@mrsmiley: Yeah, you're right, it wasn't that bad, but that kinda thing gives me flashbacks to GameCube dev kits being changed to desks while journalists tried a game out in their own office.

@CastroCasper: Not released yet, Nintendo brought the game to them and gave the restriction of 10 min video why do you think they were saying you only got 10 minutes?

Really? Only 11 minutes? Was this a Nintendo stipulation?

Also is the the first EX video of a Nintendo game?

Probably, to the first question. Nintendo has had weird stipulations like this before with video coverage of their games/hardware. I remember some particularly silly ones surrounding the WiiU launch in particular.

Not really, to the second question. https://www.giantbomb.com/videos/we-play-1-2-switch-with-nintendo/2300-11877/

Yeah, I did a hard eye-roll when that came up. As much as I wouldn't mind having some Metroid figurines in my life, I don't really need or want stupid amiibo shit in my games... but alas, if that's the crappiest thing Nintendo does this generation, we'll be blessed.

@steveurkel: There are so many Metroidvania games out there nowadays. There aren't really any games that have picked up the first person exploration mantle since Prime 3 though. Calling the Prime games 'shooters' is a bit of a stretch. That is technically what you're doing, but they definitely focus more on exploring.

This looks better then I was expecting. I'm not all that jazzed, but I strangely like the look of it. I kinda dig the 2.5D thing in a weird way.

Oh hey this game looks pretty cool... oh wait. We have to waste a minute of this already short Quick Look to advertise the motherfucking Amiibo shit.

(but the game looks pretty cool and I'm pretty sure I'll be getting this at or soon after release. Inserting the Amiibos really rubbed me the wrong way, though.).

Remember the infamous phrase from a Nintendo investor: "Just Think of Paying 99 Cents to Get Mario to Jump a Little Higher" ?

Tap this Amiibo to get a little bit of a boost.

@boonsong: maybe someone else already said this but they are borderline different games entirely. Both have different new features not featured in the original GB game.

Can this be played on the "old" 3DS? Don't have or every intend to get a "new" version.

The PR schpeal is unnecessary. I know GB has to play by the rules to get this video, but this process seems so archaic. Just let the crew play the game and give their own take on it.

They'll do a normal Quick Look when the time comes.

It would be nice if they uprezzed this for the Switch by the time Prime 4 comes out.

In fact, it would be nice to see a HD Fusion as well.

The melee counter is such a smart addition. I've played some of Metroid 2 and all of AM2R. Having a melee option is perfect given how aggressive the enemies are.

@nigeth: I agree that to those of use that really like metroid (me, certainly), Nintendo not giving a shit is frustrating. I'll withhold judgement until the game is out, but MAN have i been unimpressed with Mercury Steam stuff in the past. Also, the AM2R guy is working on the next Ori game as a level designer, so that's cool.

I could say that about Mario 3D Land, Link Between Worlds, and the Zelda 64 remakes. It would suck if those were stuck on 3DS forever; because while I love my 3DS I would rather play those on TV tbh especially Mario and 64 remakes.

The 3DS limitations makes this game look literally 10 years old before it even comes out. It actually looks like fun, and I absolutely love the idea of remaking Metroid II, but our cellphones have spoiled us with visual clarity and power over the past several years in the wake of the 3DS' release. It's a rough transition seeing such a low res screen and jaggy visuals now that we've had years of impressive smartphone tech sharing pocket space. I'm also not a fan of locking stuff like an art gallery and a freakin' sound test behind Amiibo. But again, it looks fun, and with Metroid II being one of my earliest games, I am definitely keeping my eye on it.

It would be cool if Nintendo spruced up the visuals some and just put it on the Switch.

@boonsong: I'd say just play both. AM2R was great. And this looks like just another fun 2D Metroid. The Counter System looks like a lot of fun.

So you get abilities that let you cheat , and to use them more often you have to use you 13$ figurine? That sounds like bad way to design your Metroid game. It's all about slowly getting more powerful and using those powers to reach new parts for me. Giving you cheat buttons on screen feels weird.

@reputatsioon: They mentioned it on the bombcast. Jason had their usual 3ds capture stuff prepared for the quicklook and then realized that the capture kit nintendo brought had this image popping up by default. So they used the one Nintendo brought.
