Unfinished: Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth 09/25/2014

I'm a bit disappointed that this isn't more of a departure from V. The most interesting part of a Civ game for me is always the first few hours, and I was kind of hoping they used the space setting to change things up more. I'll still play it, I love Civ, but so far it's looking like modified Civ V in space.

Kind of looking a bit like just a civ 5 mod... hrmmm.

Alpha Centauri this is not, which I know shouldn't be the expectation, but boy, does the world fiction and atmosphere super generic compared to AC.

Is there a Strategic Mode in this? That's the only way my shitty laptop can play Civ 5.. Fuck textures and give me tiles in different colours.

Is the trip actually any good?

I sort of abandoned it around the point where the old priest guy starts a lengthy flashback about the war.

The more I see of this game, the more intriguing it becomes. I'll also echo one of the earlier sentiments in that the Civ series never appealed to me, but this might be the thing to change that view.

I'm with people that this doesn't look like a huge enough depature from CIV 5, but oh well, still gonna play it for hundreds of hours.

Yep I'm 100% sold. My one single fear with this game is that it would be too far from Civ5 in similarity that I wouldn't be able to get into it but they seem extremely similar which is totally fine by me.

For the love of god, just right click directly on the spot to move and/or attack.

When Civ 5 came out and I played it religiously for a long time I was itching for a space-theme civ style game.

Endless Space came out and it was the right game at that time, but eventually I was sick of just looking at a star chart and 5 planets with dials on them. I don't like the fleet based/backdooring/constant switch of rock paper scissor combat also.

Now with this I don't know...this looks more vivid, but it really look just like a reskinned Civ 5. Limited to one land mass and planet is just too restricting for a space themed game. At least give us a planet with moons or multiple planets in one system.

Also how is the maintenance system going to work this time around. They eventually fixed it to be better, but in the earlier Civ 5 some buildings are just not worth it to build.

Oh wow, this UI design is insanely inspired by Endless Space. Did they hire part of the endless team to make this, or did they just blatantly copy it?

I wasn't really excited about this game but after watching this I have found that I am ready for more civ

I've already been playing a lot of Civ V lately. This video is bad for my wallet and my time. Oh god, the itch. I feel it.
