I'm very surprised. Usually when Jeff is in on a Unfinished, he just shits all over everything and is super negative. Then he gets more negative and makes the video unwatchable because of his super negative attitude, but I was surprised. This was a good unfinished, and I am excited to play this game!

Excited for this one. Just started playing the first one on X1 a couple of weeks ago to prep myself for this. It's janky as fuck and you can tell it's rooted in a 360 game, but it's still pretty fun and everything I've seen so far on the sequel looks really promising.

Barring Crackdown 3 exceeding expectations, SoD2 is going to be the best XBox exclusive of the year, and looking at this video I'm totally okay with that. Can't wait for the final game.

State of Decay really wasn't that complex, it just didn't hold your hand at all which I really liked. I finished it 3 times and watching this makes me want to play it again!

I might skip this one though, I have no desire to use that awful Windows store. Hopefully it'll come to Steam/GOG one day.

This game is definitely for me that are not me.

Side not, as this is a Windows Store game, you would need Xbox Live to actually play it co-op wouldn't you?

You need a Xbox Live/Microsoft account to play yes, but you don't need to pay for Gold on PC to play Windows store games online. It's a weird situation.

This game is going to be one of those overlooked things.

@avioto: And you're right they should stop using that stupid store.

Can you turn off the motion blur (when turning the camera)?

I wanted to like the first game so much but it never hooked me.

This looks like one to re-activate the Xbox Game Pass for. For a little while, anyway.

Ah okay, that is kind of weird. Almost a double standard then. Never bought anything in the Microsoft Store before i just noticed that it said Xbox Live in the game description and just assumed you would have to get a subscription like on console.

3 of the most unappealing game traits in my book:

- "Deep management sim"

- Can't pause

- Windows Store exclusive

No thanks, I'm out

I'm chronically ill and disabled and need to take constant breaks, and I never know when I'm suddenly gonna be in intense pain and have to drop everything until it stops. The lack of a pause makes games completely inaccessible to me.

I appreciate that it matches the dev's vision for the game but boy am I sick of having to miss out on things I'm interested in lmao

Well, I feel like they did tighten up the graphics on level 3. One of their early trailers made it look very much like a PlayStation 2 game and that was shown right after they were talking about how powerful the Xbone X was.

It was one of those trailers that didn't really show well, because you have to know what kinda ambitious open-world game it is. I hope Microsoft really has some "wow graphx!" games to show off at this years E3

Well back during the xbox360 days they actually tried to add a subscription to the PC version of Xbox Live, it didn't end well.

Jeff never took me as a guy who likes complex simulation management in games. He kinda wants to get in their and have his fun quicker. Kinda like enjoying the end of a rpg without the excitement of seeing your progress to a bad ass. Or the endgame of destiny without the grind. Always made me think Metal Gear Survive was not exactly the perfect game to get a take on in his review if you like survival mechanics but good if you well dislike them.

IDK hes known for being critical not cynical thou. Just happens when you play a ton of games...you start to fit into what you like and get rubbed wrong by seeing things you dont. Glad he's happier in the video since yeah sometimes he can make me just skip for games he seems off on cause i dont get a great idea of the game and comments always give more circle opinions that a quick looked game is bad without helping my purchase decision.

@solarfx: Be really sure you want this game before doing that. Maybe try a trial of the Xbox Game Pass to make sure you want to play this game because the Microsoft Store is a giant garbage pile.

This seems way worse than all the hype has made it sound. Brad is asked how the combat is and he says eh it's OK but this 100 percent looks like a game that needs to have good combat so why does it seem so weak? What is the point of the single player game? Is it jusr a sandbox basically Sims with zombies?

Stop trying to defend the developers piss poor decisions for not allowing you to pause a video game, make a competent driving model or even give a reason to play this game co-op.

Worth noting that there are somewhat credible rumors that this game is also coming to Steam, which isn't unheard of for MS-published games. We'll see.

There's more depth to the combat, but hacking and slashing is the core of it. It's fine. This isn't a dead rising game where you can credibly take on the hordes and come out A-OK. When you're alone, you shouldn't be rushing into encounters. This is a management sim first and foremost, not an adventure game, definitely not an action game.

As for no option to pause.. that's just the game this is. If you are in a situation where you have to be interrupted every once in a while, you're not gonna fire up an instance of PUBG. It is 100% not for everyone (which sucks, I know). That said, this is already way different than the first game, where it would keep playing itself even if you didn't log on. So, if you came back a week later, things could easily be in dire straits after you lost your best character - which might be a powerful incentive to come back and play for those who can get over the hump, for better or worse. In this game, the game doesn't go when you're not logged in. Not sure if that's a real way to "pause" the game, but maybe (maybe it'll just boot you back to the checkpoint - which isn't as bad as losing a character). We'll see how the game shakes out.

I agree on coop. I was with the vision for that when they were talking about it before. But I can see how that eliminates a large segment of players who just want to play with someone else all the time and share stuff. Would be nice if that were an option

It basically seems like a better looking, way more refined version of the first game.

For the people (understandably) down on the windows store, I'm 100% sure this will come to Steam later anyway.

I don't think so. MS picked it up for this. The relationship is much closer this time around in any case. The rumors come from an error message that referenced Steam not being implemented yet when IGN played through it last month. So it seems likely, but it's far from guaranteed.

@ottoman673: Then don't pause your own game. Meanwhile, people with lives, families, illness, real world issues could really use the decades-old feature known as "pause."

Again, I don't think anyone is wrong for wanting pause. But this is a dev design decision based on the spirit of their game, not an oversight or bug. I think it should be clear to everyone that this is the somewhat more accessible child of hardcore sim-survival games first and foremost, rather than a standard action game with some base building elements and a few meters (which I think is what happened to MG Survive).

Too bad that nobody on staff was all that big of a fan of the first game, it is legitimately the best survival/zombie game I've ever played. Just so perfect in so many ways (though not in all ways for sure).

It's silly to me to think that they haven't actually accounted for this kind of gameplay decision. Not being able to pause does not mean you can never walk away from the game ever. Large aspects of this game are menu driven to think there are never any safe places to do that would be such an obvious misstep that it is hard to believe that that would be how it worked. Maybe it's fair to say hold off judgment until the game comes out and we can confirm how it works. Or if the decision itself turns you off that much then the game isn't for you and that's ok too.

I mean, the first Halo Wars came to Steam around the time of the PC release of Halo Wars 2. I wouldn't be surprised if they do a Windows Store timed exclusivity thing like with Quantum Break, but I doubt they'd do a long term exclusive, especially for a non-in-house title.

I have absolutely zero trust in the Windows store after how they handled GFWL purchases and just how unreliable that entire Universal App platform all those games run on has been.
