Odyssey, Wolfenstein 2 and Destiny 2 on PC, late October is ridiculous.

A true sequel to Mario 64 and Sunshine is finally here.

I can't wait for the next G Beast series "Misappropriate my Moon" (there's not a lot of M words that are synonyms for "steal".)

I'm not a huge Mario fan despite it being the first game I ever played was super mario Bros in the 80s when we got a nes. I've played a lot of Mario games but once the series went 3d I never was much a fan.

What they showed at e3 and a lot of the footage it just seems to have no real dI reaction and hearing this is more like sunshine and the controls are stiff has me being mildly optimistic and not really over the moon yet.

Oct 27 I'll be playing origins anyways but I will prove get this despite the fact between Zelda and Mario rabbids I still don't think the switch has been a smart purchase for me.

There has to be a no motion control option, otherwise handheld mode is worthless

While I was watching this video I was thinking, has Mario finally gone too far? He's was already a murderer, but at least he used to put his enemies out of their misery quickly. Now he takes control of the bodies of his enemies, leaving them powerless and unable to stop this monster from killing their comrades.

Then by the end of the video another throught struck me, MARIO IS WEARING THE HAT. How does he know that his actions are his own? Maybe the hat has his own nefarious goals that he is working toward. If the hat wanted to rule the Mushroom Kingdom, what better tool than the former plumber who single handedly has defeated Bowser and his armies several times?

Sorry I can't edit my comment but I meant the level direction seems like a disjointed mess for instance new dink city seems to have no real flow besides like floating girders next to big buildings and minimal explanation for why the city is so small ... and then seaside kingdom just looks like a beach in an mmo or something. I'm not judging just saying the level direction seems very aimless and Mario is about precision and exploration whereas it just seems cobbled together especially since jumping rope and stuff are sunshineesque mini games with a npc who starts them.

I hope this game blows everyone away and not just Mario fans....I want to like video games and like this not necessarily collect 1000 power stones or whatever they are but just have a good time playing the game.

Also the motion controls needs to allow people with rsi and other joint problems to not have to utilize motion controls because that is a good reason to not be able to enjoy something. I'm also with Jeff we don't want to see weird human hands in videos in a Mario game very weird

There's something about Nintendo games that makes me couldn't care about them less. This and BotW did nothing for me. Maybe because I never had a Nintendo console, other than a DSi.

So... it finally happened. Kirby ate Mario.

This looks wonderful. As they mention in the video about the new blood coming in, I like how surreal it is looking, and the reference points to older games is really neat. Excitement is on high.

This is one hell of a year for video games, holy shit.

I love what I've seen of Super Mario Odyssey so far. Disregarding the people who just don't like Mario or Nintendo stuff period, I think there's room for criticism of going so open and losing the tighter focus of a game like Galaxy or 3D World. But it's been so long since they did a Mario game like this, and they've spiced it up in an amazing way that makes me really want a Switch. I wanna stack those goombas! I can't believe they are gonna put out this and Breath of the Wild in the same year, during a new console's launch.

So you where at one point in time forced to play something you don't like.

Everytime I see this game, I leave a little perplexed by it. I don't know if it's my aversion to the Mario-style character design (that touches every character and object in these games) or what, but something about all the footage for this game hasn't worked for me. I managed to enjoy playing both Super Mario Galaxies and Super Mario 3D world so it's not like the design is an insurmountable barrier for me.

On the other hand, with the focus on controlling every enemy and exploring to see their little interactions, it seems the game rellies on the character design as it's core theme. With the focus taken away from the platforming, they may have made a game I lack any enthusiasm to play. Which is a real shame because I find the possession-mechanic to be an incredibly evocative mechanic in other games.

@trulyalive: You know, I'm halfway with you. I loved Mario games when I was younger but my favorites are SMB2, SMW and Yoshis's Island. Never liked SMB3. I adored SM64 and it made me long for the next one. Sunshine was....alright but it still had that adventuring quality I liked about SM64. I appreciate the Galaxy games and SM3D World. I understand why they are good but I got bored with them. So in the end my love for Super Mario games have fizzled out.

On the other hand I never had much love in my heart for the Zelda series until Ocarina of Time and after that my love for Zelda grew and today I look forward to Zelda like a looked forward to Mario back in the 90ties.

My theory is that I don't like hardcore plattform games/challenges but rather adventuring and exploring and that's why I dig SM64/Sunshine/World (and Banjo-Kazooie etc) more compared to the more linear Galaxy games even though they are game design masterpieces.

And that's why Odyssey looks interesting to me. I actually think this might be a Super Mario game I once again can not only appreciate but also love playing because of the more open structure that I missed in the early days of 3D platforming. I was a bit disapointed to hear that there is still no hubworld but the open construction of the levels and the myriad of powermoons make it sound super exciting for me that likes to explore rather traversing on obstacle courses after another.

I was gonna buy this day 1, but if there is mandatory motion controls then I may reconsider.

Wonder how the motion controls account for handheld mode...I don't want to shake an entire Switch on a plane or something and I almost never play that thing on the dock.

Aw man, can't remember the last time when two games that I was really looking forwards to appeared almost on the same day. Going to have to juggle between this and Wolfenstein...

Sunshine sequel.

Two bosses shown, both were Sunshine style. One had ink everywhere you had to clean up, the other you floated above them ala F.L.U.D.D. hovering and fired water down.

Dan and I are happy.

I can't wait for Destiny 2 to finally come out. This extended beta is really weird.

As I said, to me it just looks like another one of those Mario games. Just not for me I guess.

It sure looks like another Mario game. I was never a hardcore fan so apart from the nice look I'm not really all that excited to collect coins and jump on goombas once agsin.
