Doom looks like someone made a Doom skin for Halo 5. Looks like it could be fun but idk why I'd choose that over Halo 5. Looks like it's shaping up to be a solid game though

@mems1224: Seems more varied in some ways compared to Halo 5. Whenever I see Halo 5 gameplay, almost everyone is using the pistol while in Doom, every loadout weapon feels useful depending on the situation. Plus, I think the Doom aesthetic is much better than any of the Halo games.

I'm sure his head was less...round, when I last saw him? Wasn't able to tell without the chat exploding either.

Doom multiplayer still looks slick, shame the 60fps is restricted to the multiplayer on consoles. Could consider pc-version, but I'm going to guess the requirements will be pretty beefy...

@gundogan: yea but since everyone can start with a shotty or Rockets they have to be toned down. That shotgun was pretty garbage for a Doom shotgun. Personally, I'm not a fan of load outs in an arena shooter like this. I prefer balanced starts with power weapons laid out across the map because then they're actually important

As far as visuals go, obviously the dude with the Master Chief avatar is going to be biased. :P

The super shotgun is actually really good. It's 80 or 90 damage if you hit someone on point at close range, making it the highest instant damage loadout weapon in the game so far (the Vortex Rifle is the highest with a headshot, but it needs to be zoomed in and then fully charged). The downside is of course the high damage drop off and the need of the zoom alt fire to get the maximum potential.

The rocket is an okay allround weapon. It's not THE weapon to have compared to Quake 3 since its damage is much lower (more like Quake 4 I guess). But this does make other weapons more interesting instead of just becoming a rocket spam fest in the long term. I've had great succes with loadouts without a rocket launcher and/or super shotty.

The loadouts does give you a balanced and varied start instead of trying to compete with a boring peashooter most of the time. And with the armors, megahealth (which is 100 health/100 armor here instead of 200 health), power up (rotates between quad damage, haste, regeneration and stealth), power weapon and demon rune spawns, there's still plenty to go for in the map. The loadouts were a bad idea in Quake3 since the game was not designed for it in the first place, but here it seems to be integrated a lot better.

I'm kinda into the Doom multiplayer the more I see of it. I'm hoping the single-player stays fairly dark and gruesome in that classic Doom style, but I'm all for the multiplayer being weirdly colourful and wacky - it's not as though Doom has ever been super serious, so I don't see an issue with throwing up the devil horns mid-game. Wasn't the hugest fan of the map(s) they were on, but then there's that whole SnapMap custom maps tool to play with so I'm sure we'll get some fantastic designs pretty early in the game's lifespan.

I really don't get people who want to see inverted footage of the person using a VR headset, that would be like watching someone playing a game with a mirrored image, or playing with horizontally inverted controls. But, then again, I don't get people who play with inverted horizontal controls...

Also, did anyone understood what Drew said when he made a joke and Will said he missed him? I think their noise gates where too strong to catch it.

Outside of maybe 8 none of the FF games are even close to being "Japanese teen simulators", Rory. I think you are thinking of Persona and those games are amazing. Sorry, I used to play a lot of FF and still play the MMO.

its interesting to hear the Duders talk about stuff like "man, I wish x game would change/evolve" and then when a new one comes out, like Doom, they get disappointed its not exactly like it was in 1995 :|
