Can't wait to see Dan's Hackmud empire in a few years.

First few minutes you guys talk about the new profile images that Brad cannot see of Jeffs. One of you must have an option turned off because you CAN see other peoples. I don't know if it's friends only or what but I've seen several and people can see mine.

I thought Dan's head was gonna gush into ludicrous gibs.

One of those games towards the end has to be Frog Fractions 2 right?

Yep. I saw Brad's profile background image shortly after I installed the update on my PS4 and was disappointed I didn't see any on the other Bomb Duder's profiles. Likely a privacy setting.

Dude lucky...I bought the Forza code for $20 as soon as Dan mentioned it on the livestream but Target emailed me like an hour later saying that they cancelled my order due to a technical issue and dropped the charge on my credit card =( . It sounds like some people were actually able to get the code e-mail even if they placed the order later than I did. I'm so unlucky when it comes to shit like that. Now I'm just curious what the deciding factor was in people getting their orders actually accepted or cancelled.

Also I'm in my 2nd semester as a post-baccalaureate getting a bachelor's degree in Comp Sci and HackMUD looks REALLY interesting.

@carg0: Between the relaxing music and the bourbon I had just drank, I had no problem nodding off. I woke up halfway through Brad's segment.

I think Dan broke during that HackMUD section :P

Now Dan knows how I feel during wrestling talk! Also I think he was reacting about the same as Drew did during Matt Kessler's DOTA collection segment a few weeks ago.

Dan's face during hack mud = priceless.

I'd be into ｈａｃｋｍｕｄ just for the aesthetic alone, but that music in the background is actually super relaxing, so I think I'll pick it up pretty soon.

@visualizer: I'm curious to what you mean by "post-baccalaureate?" Over here baccalaureate is usually just a synonym for bachelor and we usually call anything on-top of that "post-grad."

But IMO it feels odd to call a second bachelor's degree "post-grad" unless it's something like law or teaching that requires previous "broadening" education anyway. Am I just being a weird pedant, or does post-baccalaureate mean something different wherever you live?

Hey @drewbert I wonder with Can't Drive This if you should try and build a wide sort of playground space with the track pieces, rather than a track. It seemed like as long as the driver kept moving forward it was fine. So if you had four of those open pieces (with the four open sides) you could place them in a square config and the driver could just circle around while you build up other areas.

Hackmud is having issues because of excessive traffic and there only being one dev but it is SO SO SO COOL. The comparison to EVE style fuckery but with a stylized command line hacker aesthetic is fair (the Rock Paper Shotgun post about it lays out pretty well how the tutorial works and relates to the real game and stuff).

I love it a lot, growing pains and all. Watching Dan try to understand what was going on (while not being able to read stuff and getting sometimes terse explanations from Jeff and Brad) was a delight. Like a dog being shown a card trick in an endearing way.

SUCH A COOL IDEA FOR A GAME.

@ripelivejam: They all said they'd never seen it, which is its own problem but at least explains why they wouldn't remember it.

The hacking game looks really cool, but I fear my brain can't really take it :/

@mvhvtmv: Baccalaureate in many places refers to a secondary school (high school) qualification, earnt before going to university.

Edit: "ASC2" may be the most unintentionally funny thing I've heard in a good long time.

There's always Hacknet if you want a chill single player hacking game. The QL shows it off pretty well.

No making your own goofy script art and robbing real humans in it though.

Man, some of that music from hackmud sounds soooo much like the music from Fez.

@danryckert don't worry about not understanding coding. I studied digital design, was taught Java, MaxMSP etc., and I had no idea what was going on.

I don't usually complain about the games you guys play, but the hacking game was just impossible to watch. Maybe it's different with a bigger monitor, but with chat up the video was just way too small to read the text on the screen.

@Jeff Winter is a good time to buy a new bike. You'll find some nice out of season deals online. Buying a bike in spring or summer brings with it premium prices. Word!

Seconded, It looks like a really interesting concept but didn't come across well. I couldn't read the text live at all so much so that I stopped watching hoping the archive would be better (it's not).

The other games weren't very well thought out either. Can't drive this had control issue control issues, that frog game was a hipster nightmare and The Kobra games weren't bad enough to be funny or good enough to be interesting.

Guess it's getting to that time of the year and they are all tied up with the new releases coming out

I'm not saying that I've never rolled my eyes at something Dan has said, but this and the whole tiger debate in the last Hitman video sure are levitating the "I can't believe Dan't doesn't know x" trend to a higher level. Guessing some people are planning on continuing it 'till this site doesn't exist anymore.

Good video, Hackmud has some great tunes in it.

Dan's look of complete confusion/exasperation and eventual exhaustion throughout that hackmud segment was a real classic. Not all that surprising though if he couldn't even bear with the very simplified logic and commands in Quadrilateral Cowboy.
