Any Conjuring talk? I was hoping to see it later and I wanted to know going in if Alex Navarro gave it the thumbs up.

"Any Grown Ups 2 talk?" He asked, simultaneously hoping for both a postive and negative answer, believing no man deserved the form of hardship that such a film surely delivers in spades.

Pacific Rim has the best giant robots vs. giant monsters, but not so great scenes of people talking. Except Ron Perlman.

That's my opinion at least.

Btw I would recommend not watching the series "elementary". It is a pretty horrible take on the Sherlock Holmes mythology. Even if Matt Rorie recommended it.

You are far better off with the newest Sherlock Holmes tv series produced by BBC. So far 2 seasons have been produced and fortunately there will be a season 3. Sherlock Holmes is being played by Benedict Cumberbatch and Dr Watson is being played by Martin Freeman.

The first and second seasons are available on Netflix.

Really looking forward to Only God Forgives. It will either be super-enjoyable or an interesting disaster.

Very interesting to hear about Pacific Rim not really having a love story and being kiss-free.

I've only seen the movie in a test screening. Back then the flick did end with dude and lady kissing each other on the rescue raft. Everybody in the theater got those focus group questionnaires. I definitely wrote that their love story was underdeveloped and not interesting.

So you're welcome, America.

Bah. While I agree that BBC Sherlock is really good, I think the same of Elementary. Lucy Liu is great as Watson and the plot twist at the end of the season was something quite fresh and unexpected, while still conjuring up memories of A Study in Scarlet.

I can't wait for season 2.

I agree with that. I'm not THAT familiar with Sherlock lore, but I'm glad they took a more radical approach to him. I recently watched the six episodes and while the non-Moffat scripts aren't as fun, it's all still watchable and interesting and enjoyable.

Also, blowing off House of Cards is UNACCEPTABLE. Show is GREAT. It gets a little over the top at points, but it's all fictional, so they have room to work with.

I like that they took a different direction with him, but he is just so over the top. That kind of sums up my feelings with the whole show, though. I really want to like it, and I like that it's different, but it just doesn't do it for me the way I want it to.

Thanks, Matt and Alex! Alex let us know how the Bridge does, the FX commercials have done NOTHING for me but I'd be willing to give it a shot if you think it puts together a good early-season run.

Get Vinny and Drew and then just talk more about Pacific Rim. Because I love that movie flaws and all and fuck everything coming out this weekend.

I just came back from Pacific Rim, I liked the robots and creature effects, really well made. Good brainless action!

For the title of this podcast I really think they should just have it be "The Untitled Movie PodCast".

Much appreciate this movie podcast, it's good to hear about movies from a couple of "normal" guys that just likes movies and not some critics that only likes french experimental low budget movies :) Keep it up @rorie and @alex

Oh HELLLLL no. I love that character. I get that he's exaggerated to all hell, but he comes across as wonderfully menacing in a "I'm so bored of being the most evil genius around" kind of way. He reminded me of a lot of DC comic villains in that way.

Pacific Rim is the most fun I had at the movies since the Avengers. I have seen it twice in theaters and I might go see it again with another set of friends tomorrow.

Idris Elba has done comedy before. He was in several episodes of The Office, right?

Sherlock always was considered socially awkward. In an age where we are informed about these medical cases and mental illnesses I don't know why it wouldn't be normal to say exactly what the issue is.

@bkbroiler: lol....absolutely not. I think he is the best Moriaty we've seen in film or television. Does that mean he's faithful? I'd say more so than any of the Moriarty's we've seen. I think the actor did a great job with the role and went out of the box in a good way.
