Unprofessional Fridays: UPF 12/10/21

Sometimes it seems like Matt rorie is getting ragged on too hard for things he says, which is upsetting. He seems like the nicest guy and I enjoy when he feels comfortable to talk and it would be a shame if the bagging went to his head.

@chumplord: He seems nice but I guess I get why ppl get annoyed. He never pays attention and tends to interrupt conversations. He has always been like that tho. I remember Ryan calling him out on it.

I'd be down for another Speed Racer film. The first was so freaking amazing. I can never be friends with someone who dislikes that film.

@ryaer: Rorie is pure stream of consciousness and also kinda just a weird (in a good way) dude. Someone finding him to be a bit much is not at all surprising to me but I personally think he's great. His Spelunky stream with Jess was an amazing baptism of fire for her, hahaha

This is exactly the second time I've seen Rumbleverse and I can't remember the last time I felt so viscerally opposed to a game. I don't even know why exactly but I just cannot stand it.

Is it just me or does the game footage in this seems to be slightly delayed? People keep commenting on things before you see them happen in the footage.

A pole should just mysteriously appear in a future Rorie stream, with no commentary, then disappear immediately after.

Every time Jeff eats an upgrade, I kept hoping to see his character get swoler

@awiiing: It's kind of amazing how like 10+ years ago the complaint was "All these damn shooters are just grey and brown sludge!" and now it seems like it's come around to "All these damn shooters are just bright cartoony sludge!". Between Fortnite, Overwatch, League of Legends, and the Supercell games (Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars) it seems like every "biggest game in the world" there's an extremely clear art trend that I don't like at all.

Just regular-ass non-sexual pole dancing is pretty popular around here. My wife has one similiar to that one at our house as well lol. It's sturdy because it's wedged between the floor and the ceiling and the bases on both ends make it impossible for it to tip.

The Matrix thing is impressive, having also tried it myself. Someone just needs to get to solving the eye issue, because that's definitely still *the* thing that is instantly noticeable on human characters and especially so on famous people whose faces you're already used to seeing aplenty.

I have faith that you can eat 20 nuggets in 4 minutes 30 seconds. Reach for the stars Jan!

Jan mentioned that he messed around with some streaming settings in order to get less of the "jam" on screen at the cost of bigger latency. It's a little weird but I guess between 1:1 audio-to-video and the screen constantly turning into a mess of pixels the latency is a lesser evil.

@humanity: That makes sense, thanks. I appreciated seeing clear streams after so much jam the past couple of weeks, but I hope they find a stronger solution for the latency. It was especially notable when Rorie was playing Far Cry.

@btstreleckis: Yah when Rorie was playing it really was sort of unnerving as he would say "one headshot.. two headshot.." and he hasn't started even shooting yet. It was like Rorie was spoiling the game he was actively playing haha.

Edit: The delay is rough. Hearing the person playing react five seconds in advance takes away a lot of the communal feeling.

@glots: For me it's always micro expressions around the eyes and especially mouth, since I tend to watch people's mouths when they talk more than the eyes.

The characterisation of coffee as dirty and energy drinks giving a "clean up and down" makes me feel attacked as a coffee drinker >:(

@chumplord: Yeah! Rorie adds a lot to the crew and it wouldn't be the same without him. He's also interested in different games than the other duders.

@chumplord: Rorie has been, and always will be, a top-tier Duder for me. I get so excited when I see that he's joined in on a stream.

What kind of cold brew have y'all been having? Cold brew is supposed to be more mellow than brewed, less bitter.
