Guys, pressing 'Select' in The Climb will re-center you at the correct distance/height from the wall, eliminating 90% of the problems with grabbing holds and head-through-geometry you experience in this video. As you move around quite a bit when standing, it's worth doing this at each checkpoint.

Cyberpong just makes me want to play actual racket ball again. That sport is so underappreciated.

@jeff Back to Dinosaur Island 2, which is a free VR tech demo from Crytek available on Steam, has the mechanics from The Climb without the chalking, it came out a couple months ago.

I would suggest for people who have an Oculus headset (including DK2) can go play that instead of buying The Climb. It is probably just the right amount of that mechanic and it is cooler because it has Dinosaurs.

I really appreciate you guys doing this. VR games not having a 'demo' option {as most of them are glorified demos themselves at this point} makes me really hesitant to slap down more than $15 on anything at all, and only then when I've heard good things about it.

Man... come on VR. Don't go down this mini game and bad controls road that motion control did. I'm really bummed out this stuff hasn't started out better.

It would appear so, and I am in complete agreement. If there is a 'Killer App' in the the games spectrum, I have yet to see it. I don't want to slate the whole thing, but man people have short memories, prohibitive pricing aside, this is the wii and Kinect all over again.

This is going to die on the vine if people don't start thinking about meaningful software, currently it's a goof simulator.

Except this actually works, which is a huge difference. Honestly the people expecting half decent games the first year have never followed new technology. It always starts really slow, people testing things and the only ones that should be buying it at all are the enthousiasts that want to test and mess around with it themselves. Then someone finds makes it work marvelous, and people copy it over.

Anytime I see Giant Bomb and VR together, I get happy.

It's kind of stunning what complete bullshit all these VR games are. They are so fucking terrible, as to hardly qualify as games. I really wonder what the future of VR will be? I personally can't imagine a game that would make me want to buy a headset.

Given that really good, complete games usually take years of development, that means we'd expect to see full VR games in about 2 years.

But by then there will be a Rift 2 and Vive 2...
