Much like every online game with mic support, everyone seems to be speaking through soup cans and mumbling like babies except for the shilling dude at the end.

Super pissed that I can't play Oculus Home games on the Vive anymore. I would have loved to try out Hitman Go VR.

On the subject of social hubs/avatar chats, did y'all know that not only is The Palace still a thing, but it's actively updated to this day? That's fucking wild. And somehow, with it being so full of Youtube embeds and links to Steam everywhere, it feels even more janky and half-baked than it did in the 90s/00s.

If any company that produces VR headsets is still wondering why I refuse to shell out over € 800,- for a VR headset, just watch this video. It reminds me of the wii, Eyetoy and Kinect games I've played over the years. Somewhat fun, especially in the beginning when it's still novel, but in the end just a huge disappointment because all the janky shovelware.

Anyone know if the Please Don't Touch Anything update will be coming to non-VR PC? The 3D looks so much more interesting than the pixel art original.

Also anyone else get uncomfortable when you have some presumed shill suddenly "showing" all those features of that thing. It was suddenly really awkward to me XD and I wasn't even there, just watching a vid!

Anyway, love the videos. Man VR is so cool but I just don't see any software that justifies it as a purchase. The only thing VR justifies for me right now are hilarious and entertaining giant bomb videos. Which I can enjoy very nicely without VR. I would like to get VR someday, but people need to make software for it that is worth it. As of right now this might as well be the kinect stuff all over again [except this hardware actually seems rad].

This was absolutely hilarious. Kudos to the decision to do the VRodeo it is the best format to do VR in based on the fact there is nothing positively jaw dropping that warrants 20-30 minutes of screen time.

I saw some mention of how Epic is working with Google for the Dream VR thing which I didn't even know of, which seems promising for "making games become a thing in VR" ... The fact that Unreal 4 will be supported fully be Epic is definitely a step in the right direction for VR. I am blind in one eye so I will never get to experience VR in all it's glory and I kind of really dislike having to sit on the sidelines and see all the potential uses and amazing applications which will surely occur.

Thank you for the laughs. Please do more AltSpaceVR since there does seem to be some seriously good hijinks potential for that one. Also, more ultimate chicken horse segments ... I know it has nothing to do with VR but if anyone is reading this it is one of the best things you guys do!

Quick question to anyone who's used VR: When looking in the distance at an object, and there's something in the foreground, do your eyes appear to actually defocus on the foreground object? For example, at 1:16:22, when Dan asks if Jeff sees the numbers right in front of him, Jeff says "you're looking past it." Would he actually defocus on the numbers in front of him, even if the numbers being rendered are crisp on the screen?

This ain't our first VRodeo.

Fuckin Jason ended it too soon, I wanted to see Jeff's newly found anime lady piloting skills.

@alavapenguin: yeah I used alt space a while ago when it launched on Gear VR and it had one of the devs giving a talk or something. I found that the discomfort of being in a VR room with 'real' strangers is surprisingly strong anyway - it's like a really extremely intense form of social anxiety - but that amplified it even more.

It's easily the most promising of the social VR stuff I have seen, though.

It also says something that most of the best VR stuff is also on the Gear, which is a tenth of the price of these headsets (unless you don't have a Samsung phone, and it isn't worth buying a Samsung phone just for VR). Honestly may favourite thing to do in VR is watch Netflix in the netflix room. I can pretend I have a big TV!

I convinced by VRs potential, but very uncertain that many devs will take advantage of it.

Dolphin Defender looks like it's trying to be all vaporwave, but the music is way too upbeat.

Everything is "focused to infinity" in today's VR head-mounted displays. It makes looking at virtual objects up-close awkward because your eyes converge on the closer thing (which is proper for stereoscopy), but they also try to focus on the closer thing unsuccessfully. The Rift/Vive can't simulate multiple focusing distances in an image.

A type of head-mounted display that can simulate that is a light field display, but these will likely remain experimental for several years.

Thanks for the reply. That talk was fascinating. I was really surprised to hear him say it could actually translate to video games. I was thinking the whole time that rendering hundreds of discrete perspectives would require impossibly powerful hardware.
