Google Earth VR is evil magic. Stuff like this is too powerful for morals to understand. It must be buried and never used again!

Seriously, I hope they bring this to other VR platforms besides VIve. They claim it will happen.

This is great. The trip down memory lane with the Giant Bomb guys is pretty awesome.

Jeff narrating his life by just flying over these areas is goddamn beautiful. I remember the first office, I remember the 'how to build a bomb video' where Jeff strolled down that crosswalk with the keys to the door.

I can totally see how this is some powerful stuff to experience in VR.

I would go down such a deep hole with Google Earth VR. I've spent a silly amount of time just looking at all the beautiful places in normal Google Earth. Strange that one of the most compelling things in VR is a map program.

Is the audio a bit weird to anyone else?

Jeff flying around and talking about the places he's been in his life was so neat and heart-warming.

And I think I'm glad they moved away from Accounting, damn that game has some of the most annoying voice acting I've ever heard in any game. Just shut up already, screaming in weird voices all the time doesn't make it automatically funny.

Eh, I thought Google Earth VR was cool for a while, but only very few areas are modeled in 3D.

And, for the areas that were modeled, I didn't feel like the "paper mache school project" 3D modeling looked good enough to convince my brain I was really there.

Most areas are just flat, low-res imagery, and are not modeled.

The Pyramids of Giza are not modeled, but Yankee Stadium is. Which is all that matters, really.

Pretty sure Google Earth uses photogrammetry with the satelite photos they use for their maps to construct the 3D models. Because the satelites are so high up you get a bad viewing angle on everything except the roofs. That's why the facades on most things are so terrible. Cars are often not there for multiple passes so they can look quite screwed up. Also only cities with good satelite cover gets the 3D threatment for now.

You can kinda see the effect on tall rectangular buildings, that's seperate from the rest. Many more images get captured off the facade, so even if the viewing angle is still terrible, they look much better.

Wow Accounting seems pretty awful, so I guess that's kinda true to life.

Real shame about your floor level being fucked up. Accounting is actually pretty hilarious. Real bummer when VR just craps out bigtimes.

Man I spent like an hour in Google Earth VR the other day and didn't even realize it. It was trippy to go around my hometown as a giant, seeing the football stadium was cool.

Its a shame about the floor level, because after seeing Accounting on the Extra Life Stream it looks like the most fun thing in VR since Job Simulator.

VR Jeff could give me a tour of his home-town any time.

It's a shame about Accounting, it goes very non-Job Simulator places after that opening sequence. It's made by the guy who did Rick & Morty so if you don't like that, the humour probably won't appeal.

You just sold me on VR. Vive here I come. Or here Vive comes.

Google Earth in VR really is something magical. I like that they added a little ambient music to it.

Hope that the Desktop version of Google Earth gets a small UI and control revamp since it always felt rough and static for me.

@drgreatjob: One thing I did when I was sick and trying to kill time about a year ago was to just place myself within the very south of the Metropolitian Area of Tokyo, which is about 70 miles away from the center of the city, and try to look for for way to reach that place just by following roads. Took me 7 hours or so to reach the Skytree. No idea if I have the Stamina of wearing those VR headsets 7 hours+ but I could try.

I'm fine with the humor in Rick and Morty but WOW the guys doing the voiceover in Accounting need to shut the hell up.

Yikes. That voiceover in Accounting was terrible, I never want to see that or hear that game again. One of the worst ways to start out a game I have even seen, even if it does get better later on.

Google Earth VR seems really cool, and was the first thing that I kinda wanted to have a VR headset for.

Accounting not working correctly then berating you while it isn't working correctly is a great way to have the player respond with "fuck this!"

God, I LOVE Google Earth VR's movement sound. It sounds like a stone dial turning. So satisfying.

In terms of Kansas and Google Earth VR, I went to go check out Worlds/Oceans of Fun and that looks great, but I couldn't find Schlitterbahn. I know where it is, since I can see the massive, decapitating waterslide whenever I go to Legends (a large shopping center near KC), but there was no trace of the water park there.

A shame about accounting, really wanted to see them play it after the extra life bit. That game goes places for sure. Folks in the comments, don't judge it for that little mishap, you can see it somewhere else. Including the Drew and Alexis extra life stream.

I love accounting.

Accounting VR is pretty much just a vessel for Justin Roiland to be macabre, for better or worse. I think it is a neat platform for adventure games, but as it is comedy driven in the same way Jazzpunk is, the experience will not be for everybody.

I really wish they had taken recommendation for looking at the tutorial for Onward before jumping in, but hopefully there will be a full in-game tutorial down the line. Playing Onward online is hell of a thing.

Google Earth VR is the one thing that makes me want to get a Vive. Just imagine in the future when there are high resolution detailed 3D models for most places. For anyone interested in history, architecture or geography it just seems super neat.
I find it interesting to just look at Google street view in 2D and look at all the cities and buildings and google places that look interesting and read the history about them, so I can just imagine how awesome it is to look at all this stuff in a VR helmet.

Been waiting to see that Serious Sam VR thing but Google Earth is probably one of the first things I would actually want to experience in VR.

I really love that Giant Bomb is doing these VR segments, but I'm going to reiterate what I said before: you need to do a bit of homework. You don't have to be expert at every game, but 10 minutes with each before would make a huge difference. That's why the one app you did spend time with, Google Earth, was the smoothest part of the show.

Accounting & Zacarria Pinball - you guys have floor drift on your Vive. It happens to some people over time. All you have to do is run room set up again and reset your floor. That's why you can't grab the stuff in accouting. It's also why the pinball table "looks small"

Onward - You double tap a direction to run. You use menu button to grab certain supplemental items. This is why grabbing things seemed unresponsive. You weren't using the right buttons.

Serious Sam - This game picks up on the fourth level. You guys need to play 1-4 to see what that game becomes. The first levels 3 levels are really just warm up acts to the shit that happens at 1-4. It's pretty awesome.

Otherstuff that's not Shooting Galleries:

You guys kind of shrug off the bevy of gun games but there are are plenty of awesome non-gun things. \

Climbey is awesome. You throw yourself around levels and grapple your way around environments. Mechanically it feels really good and has a proper learning curve (you get better at throwing yourself around and grappling as you play). You litterally use your hands to "fling" your self around and grab walls and climb up.

Bomb U - like bomberman in VR. You play against AI or other opponents and use powerup to destroy their play area (bombs, axes, guns) and try to blow up the ground below them.

Left Hand Path has a Dark Souls style aesthetic, but you actually have to hold a staff in one hand and draw the spells with your other hand to perform them.

Redout - a great Wipeout style game with a good cockpit VR mode.

SurVive - a neat sci-fi escape the room game that evolves in some cool ways.

I really wish at least one of you guys had a Vive at home. It's clear to those of us who do you just don't know the platform, how to navigate it's issues, and what is available for it that well. I'm not trying to be a fan boy here. This really is just about being familiar with the library and the nuances of the platform, which you don't have if you pick it up once every month.

Vive's are $100 off during Blackfriday. I wish one of you guys had one so you'd be better informed about the platform, it's nuances, and it's library.

It still seems awful even after watching the Extra Life stream. It's just a bunch of characters screaming constantly while you try to find a key object for each level and pretty much nothing else.

Ahhh, How did you guys not just watch the Onward tutorial up front? You keep complaining that VR has no killer app, this IS the killer app, it's like the one full featured game that's worth having the system for. You seriously need to give that a shot seperately.

I got the same vibe off of it too from watching it from another stream too. It wears thin super-quick, but at least it is free.

There is nothing better than a new VRodeo video! This is one of the best series. I think this format for VR is the absolute best because so many of these games aren't fully fleshed experiences. Personally I don't even know if I will ever get a chance to experience VR due to a combination of being blind in one eye, it hurts to stand up for long periods of time, and I get nauseous too easily. It is fun to watch the bomb crew dabble in VR though.
