Yes loving this series Alex, Since the stream last week I picked up this game and all the DLC, Played over 20 hours of it and bought a racing wheel. This has been the perfect chill out and forget the world game for me. There is something about cruising down a European motorway while listening to random radio station that's puts a big dumb smile on my face.
Also if anyone else picks this up look into mods. The modding community for truck sim is incredible.
Alex has been straight up killing it ever since he started streaming. I don't know why, but I think I enjoy these solo truck streams even more than when you were all together in the studio. Looking forward to Civ!
Thanks for making me laugh really hard during an incredibly difficult time (for a lot of us), I treasure these streams. Kinda crazy how well these games simulate the beautiful, hilarious and tedious experience of cross-country driving. Looking forward to some Civ as well!
@mister_v: Thanks for the hot modding tip! I just picked this up on Steam so I can truck along with Alex and friends. Can't wait to bop my head to some Euro beats.
No joke, the Euro Truck Sim Quick Look with Vinny was one of the first videos I watched that got me hooked on GB in the first place.
The folk-metal band at ~1:15:10 is Eluveitie, not "Elven Kin(g)" or whatever Alex said on stream.
I don't like that particular song, but I have several of their albums and I take issue with categorizing them as 'trash'. That said, the formation I liked, which included Anna Murphy on vocals and Hurdy-Gurdy, has since split (2016)
Alex is right though that they have a 'style', which is to say the lead is very into Celtic mythology, to the point that many songs are sung in reconstructed Gaulish.
It’s weird but I feel like Alex has been the best at acclimating to this whole streaming at home thing. Vinny coming in at a close second. A lot of the time I have GB content playing in the background just for the banter, but I was genuinely enthralled watching this stream and the drumming one, good stuff.
The what the hell am I listening to song at the end there is Daniel Cavanagh with Lee Douglas helping out. Song is called Oceans Of Time from his solo release, it also sounds a whole lot like the group that they're in, Anathema. I enjoy these music appreciation streams where trucking happens in the background, the Amorphis drop prior to this was fun.
I'll be honest, I did not expect to hear Scooter but despite absolutely not liking Scooter it kind of made me smile because that big blonde weirdo makes me smile. There are few things more quintessentially German to me than Scooter.
If you've never heard their cover/reinterpretation of Supertramp's The Logical Song, it's sure a thing!
The empty pallets tend to come from retailers that have items delivered on them to put on sale in the store and then have no further use for them, so they send them to a place that needs them to transport items. Alex just got a couple gigs of that style.
