For the record, Goetia is an incredible point-and-clicker, and Forgotton Anne is a very good puzzle platformer. Just had to get that out there.

Why does every one of these videos get stuck buffering a few minutes before the end?

The end of the video works fine on chrome browser on iOS so something is up with the windows 10 version of this video.

I honestly surprised how into the FFVII combat I am. It looks like they learned a lot from FFXV and made something that looks like it has actual strategy to it, or at the very least it'll be more fun to mow through guys.

FFVIII Remaster is a pleasant surprise, especially since it looks like they did some work to it? Cleaned up character models at the least.

Crystal Chronicles is the hill I will die on. LOVE that game and am super looking forward to getting some friends together for it.

Alright folks, I've never seen a single thing about FF7 but that remake looks rad. Worth a buy or just leave it behind and continue with new games?

Wow, I didn’t think my expectations for Final Fantasy 7 Remake could be lowered but they did it. The hottest of garbage. Cancel it! That combat is the most vile thing ever done to a video game.

It does need to be clarified that the people are absolutely the worst thing about San Francisco. Without the people (and the street poop they leave), it would be an amazing city.

I missed the beginning of this, went and watched the Ubisoft conference after this concluded, and now I'm watching the beginning of this stream... and YES! YES FUCKING YES! Un-ironically, I'm am fucking so stoked that Too Human is included in the backward compatibility for the XBone. Does that mean it's available on Game Pass as well?? Would love to go back and give that game a whirl. Put like 120 hours into that game originally. Fuckin' loved it!

Marvel's Avengers: The Spirits Within

I was very disappointed at the guys' understanding of Avengers. It wasn't the greatest showing, I know. But they clearly showed behind the back 3rd-person camera to represent gameplay, except for Captain America, then later they clearly showed that Cap is DEAD in the game, that's who they felt sad for failing, at the end. I felt like they went to the conference ready to not care, before even seeing it.

Absolute Drift definitely does have a steep learning curve but it's amazingly satisfying when you start nailing it, and feel in control.

I would wait for reviews. It's not just an upscale of the graphics.

@guip1408: I didn't see anything there that actually looked like gameplay. And while the story part implied Cap is dead, the presentation heavily implied he is playable in the game. He was the first one revealed in the roster of 5 characters.

In any case, I think you're misreading their responses, it wasn't one of not caring it was one of disbelief about how little was said about the actual game. I have no idea why Square Enix thought they had to spend 15 minutes introducing the characters of one of the largest entertainment franchises around rather than saying anything of substance about their game.

E3 this year sure is weird and disappointing

FF7 remake looks great! A more active FF13-like combat system seems like an good solution.

Ya know, if they released FF14 on Xbox I'd probably play it.

Fact: Final Fantasy is the Madden/FIFA/CoD of JRPGs, only actually less changes in each iteration/expansion and it gets a pass 'because anime.'

Avengers looks...okay.

A couple things, though. Marvel, more specifically the MCU, is as big as it is now because over the course of 10 years or so we connected with these characters and ensembles across a long series of films and shows. All with very strong casts and some solid, if imperfect writing. Furthermore, the story in all of that content bounces around enough major Marvel Comics milestones to lend it that authenticity and credit among longtime fans.

Just throwing together a bunch of slightly off-looking, Great Value-esque (digital) people we've never seen before in Avengers costumes and giving them some one-off story isn't really all that compelling. And they seemed to know that from the amount of circular bullshit non-talking they did about it and dissecting the characters with their voice actors and shit...like, who needs this? Just show the damn game.

A non-MCU game CAN work, as evidenced by Spider-Man on PS4. It's just not quite as much of a slam dunk. Especially when it's so close it's bordering on parody. Spider-Man's biggest strength was how much it was clearly its own thing. This is so close to the MCU Avengers the damn theme features the same three-note hit but with a different chord. The whole "FIVE YEARS LATER" thing. I mean, come on.

Or hey, maybe it is just as solid as something like Spider-Man...we don't really know because they said and showed basically nothing at all.

The FF14 end-of-trailer twist was incredible. It's essentially like the Bioshock ending twist, but if Bioshock had been telling its story for 6 years. And they just dropped it like that in a trailer. Jesus.

I love how it just sounded like nothing to anyone else though. It would be great if Brad cold get whichever friends he's talking about that play 14 a lot to come in and do a Quick Look of Shadowbringers.

Square Enix has been so weird about which platforms they release their games on, I guess they're continuing that trend...

The cheering for no reason is seriously turning me off a lot of this stuff.

I woke up 3 am in the middle of the night (Europe time) and watched Square Enix press conference. Square Enix really did a good job at E3 2019 this year. PS! that FF7 remake looks incredible.

The Avengers presentation could use a litte tighter script, but please show a little patience since it isn't a complete game yet. All in all good stuff.

When Vinny asked "is this Anthem?" about Avengers, I had flashbacks to that godawful presentation of Anthem at E3 last(?) year, with the unnecessary fluff pieces and whatnot (to their credit, even EA managed to pull more actual gameplay footage together). It might end up being 'the next Anthem' for all the wrong reasons.

Apparently they've changed the entire English cast for FFVII that has been playing them since kingdom hearts 1 and that super sucks. Especially since it sounds like they're just doing impressions of the old people.

It seems like they're trying to go for name recognition or something and just.... No.

Pretty disappointed about how little they actually showed of the Avengers game.

Too Human was underrated. I played the hell out of that game and nearly S ranked it.

Avengers has me excited but I will wait to hear from people playing it on the floor to get an idea of what to expect.

Man, I'm glad I didn't watch this live. Not sure why they even had this show. I'd skip a Final Fantasy mobile game segment only to be greeted with the next segment, a different JRPG remake. Also that Avengers trailer was so painful, a sitdown with the voice actors? Really? An extended segment introducing some of the most well known characters in popular media? Really??

What the hell was that Avengers presentation?! They presented it like it was this big deal and insanely important game but they haven't actually said anything meaningful about what the game actually is. They're already talking about DLC and no pay to win but not even an hint about gameplay?

Not to mention how it just looks insanely bland with a terrible and generic art style. I'm fine with them making their own take on the Avengers instead of following the movies, Insomniac did the same with Spider-Man. But at least Spider-Man looked good and interesting.

Honestly, that Final Fantasy VII footage looked pretty impressive. It'll probably never fulfill people's lofty expectations, but they seem to be on the right track to modernize a classic. The staggering mechanic reminds me of XIII, which had one of the best combat systems in the series.

The one thing I will say is that I'm a bit worried / confused about the episodic nature, if the first half is just (an extended) Midgar. Midgar is such a small portion of the original game, maybe 5 hours of a 35+ hour adventure that it hardly seems reasonable to pack all the rest of it into a second episode. They also haven't shown any world map exploration, although I would imagine it to be like FFXV.

Also, you don't dodge lightning in FFVII, that's in FFX and Cait Sith is the robot cat, Red XIII is the dog.

@curufinwe: it’s mind boggling to me. I sat through thst whole presentation and just hated it. I don’t get how anyone who is a fan of the original has any desire for this product.

I hate to say it, but all these companies did a crap job...but Square-Enix actually did better this year. They win bets prestation so far because everyone else was in teh toilet. Sure, Square's presentions was long, dull, and confusing; but a lot less-so than last year!!! Their biggest screw up is we had NO CLUE what Avengers woudl play like. It might be great...but might be crap? I hope the hands-on can tell us tonight.

FFVII looked fine for gameplay, better than I thought it would. Some people might hate it now...but the original game while beloved was actually trash by modern terms. If they make something playable that will be a big step for sure.

Outriders could actually be interesting if it does not fall into teh trap that Destiny 2 and Anthem have fallen into. What a twist it woudl be if Outriders was actually the games people wanted Destiny and Anthem to be...I'd fracking bust a gut if that came to pass. Hey if you like Destiny and Athum more power to you, but I sure hope Outsiders is the polar opposite of those two dung heaps.

FF7 looks stellar, I enjoyed the game when I got around to playing it long after it was new but was never a die-hard fan or anything.

Jeff (and I think some others' from time to time) assumption about the old localization versus this new one is just sort of incongruous with what this really is. The original Japanese script and such they did such a sloppy job on back then is being reworked so much in the first place this time around. Final Fantasy VII has had a lot of retcons and other side games that they (now obviously) are weaving back in with this edition of the game.

I always thought Midgar was such a cool place, and felt like so much more game could take place there. It's actually exciting that they want to blow that out and make that portion of the story and game bigger and more thorough.

oh yeah and I guess maybe I'll try a SaGa game finally. Add that to the list of like all time great RPGs I've put off for ages and ages.

It's really sad that I'm 10 times more hype for Ultimate Alliance 3 than I am this Avengers game. The whole "You can play it here at E3!" thing being announced and then not showing a goddamn second of gameplay was the absolute worst.

I wish Dan would not ask questions about the MCU or marvel stuff when he clearly hates/dislikes almost everything surrounding it.
