Honestly I don't envy Dan having to remember where he left off after each episode. This is the kinda game you really wanna grab a few cans of Rockstar or whatever and plow through in one night. It's perfect for that kinda long session playing.

Dan playing something like Alundra would be pretty great haha.

Man there were some crazy highs and lows in this episode.

Yah I'm not sure why everyone thinks this is some huge troll that Kojima purposefully planted. This is a VERY old game by all means. Back then people weren't trolling the player, games were just kind of primitive and not QA tested like that.

Final Fantasy 7 also had a ridiculously long staircase sequence (the way into the Shinra building). Was it a common gag in Japanese video games?

@krist5000: I mean, he loves Zelda, so he'd probably actually like Alundra, which is mostly just (more) anime Legend of Zelda. It's also one of the few games that took advantage of the PS1's 2d sprite capability--doesn't look as good as SOTN, but I think it holds up OK.

@danryckert: Grab Alex Navarro and coop thru Goof Troop on the SNES. It's fairly short and sweet, there's plenty of opportunity to fuck with each other, and the costs for doing so isn't too terrible. Guaranteed fun times all around.

Super frustrating watching Dan trying to play brute force without the items he needs (mine detector) and making zero effort to avoid alerts by just looking at the radar.

This is definitely the right answer! Watching Dan try to figure out some of the dumb, convoluted bullshit in that game would be amazing.

He thinks he's getting through the game faster by just getting spotted and running past every stealth puzzle, but I'm not so sure, because what he actually does is freeze like a deer in headlights and tries to kill a hundred guys who keep appearing.

I was actually this close to suggesting both of those, but considering how much of them is spent just reading through text I'm not sure they'd be a good fit. I WOULD love to see the Beast crew react to all the crazy shit that goes down in the Zero Escape series (this being 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors, Virtue's Last Reward and Zero Time Dilemma) as Vinny knowingly smiles at the camera, though, so I'll still hold out hope.
