Wow Jeff could not have screwed up that gag in the beginning any more than he did and it was hilarious. So happy to see Jeff here.

This level is a nearly unbearably tedious puzzle, but blasting through the wrong wall is peak Metal Gear.

Also, Dan forgets how to use a Ration without taking damage.

Also, Laura's dark entrails.

I feel like Dan completely glosses over the similarity between Viper and Miller in MGSV because he was busy thinking about wrestling. I wonder how often that happens for him in general.

Sigint: A cardboard box? Why are you...?

Naked Snake: I dunno. I was just looking at it, and suddenly I got this irresistible urge to get inside. No not just an urge - more than that. It was my destiny to be here; in the box.

Wow, I really feel like a lot of their heartache would've been spared had it been any playstyle other than Dan's, but was good nonetheless! More Bakalar, please!

And Jeff Bakalar immediately points out the right thing: don't change all variables when you are solving a puzzle.

Psycho Mantis can float and stuff, he moves stuff with his mind, and can read minds. Volgin stuff is a bit odd but basically he was so freakin' mad at Snake that just (barely) kept him alive in a Coma, think the Soviets helped in keeping him alive too. Mantis was on a plane overhead, ended up being influenced/controlled by super angry Volgin who was reanimated and MGSV happens. The only actual supernatural things in the MGS series is things involving Psycho Mantis and The Sorrow. The rest is explained!

Solidus was the perfect clone and all three (Solidus, Liquid, Solid) were engineered to age fast as they were disposable, Solidus was designed to age fast so he could become the President/be the Patriot's pawn.

The Pain could control bees because of the parasites, he secreted pheromones that let him control them (before MGSV it was a queen bee/wasp in his backpack, most/all of MGS3's boss abilities were basically the cause of the Parasites as heard in the MGSV tapes).

Skullface worked directly with Cipher since at least Operation Snake Eater (MGS3), he was the clean up crew for Snake and helped (canonically it's why bodies disappeared and why you could find items/weapons in weird spots). He's the reason Zero is a vegetable in MGS4 (poisoned him with a pin the Boss had in mgs3, after he learned of Zero's location via Paz).

Ghosts in the walls of the White House was as Dan said, just a metaphor for the Patriot AI controlling everything.

And because it annoys me whenever it's brought up: Ocelot was NOT a secret good guy the whole time. His plan was to completely wipe out the Patriots which would make the world fall into anarchy, creating the world Big Boss dreamed of. FoxAlive was written to keep the bare minimum of them up and running so society wouldn't collapse.

This was longer than I meant for it to be, and none of them will read it....but oh well!

@shiro2809: Still so mad they dropped the ball (or rather forgot it was even there) with the Cypher stuff. I was so hype after the cliffhanger they gave us in Peacewalker by they just wrote around it and pretty much pretended it never happened all so Kojima could have his dumb ass twist everyone figured out after the first trailer.

Mission Impossible: Fallout is entirely mediocre. From start to finish. What is wrong with you, Dan? It’s also very tame for a PG-13 film.

Can't believe I'm saying this.. but I have to agree with Dan for once, Avatar is not that bad. Maybe it was a time and place thing for me because apart from the stunning visuals, I actually really related to this story of not belonging and finally finding your place in the world. I mean I know it's basically Dancing with Wolves but people definitely give it a lot more shit than it deserves.

If I had gone through all that conveyer belt shit only to have my reward be Jimmy the Wizard talking shit at me back in the day when this came out, I may have just snapped the cart in half.

That said: the part with the wall WAS hilarious.

I've been thinking about the amount of trash we have compared to 150 years ago a lot lately too.

Fun fact about that. The famous anti-litter ad with a native american shedding a tear was actually funded by corporations like Coca-Cola and Dixie Cup to shift blame of all this new garbage from disposable containers onto the individual consumers. Also the actor in that ad was italian.

Admittedly I forgot all about that scene! I'm a bit stumped on that actually. Huh. I'd probably go with the hallucinating thing though, be it through subconscious stuff with Vulcan Raven's tattoos or something? Shit.

So, yea. Upon looking into it further he does have supernatural powers. My bad!

So Psycho Mantis, Vulcan Raven, The Sorrow, and Fortune's brief moment at the end of MGS2. Those're the only things that don't really get explained/are supernatural. Volgin's powers may have been explained but I super can't remember it right off hand. Super powered people in the world of MGS are super rare but they exist basically, so it's all good still!

I don't wanna get into it too much, but supernatural people existing is like the entire thing Kojima was trying to write around. I think it's pretty telling that even dedicating two entire games to explaining shit wasn't enough to fully close up all of the holes in the lore.

Also, did Dan really think that everything just grew everywhere since the beginning of time?

Getting films on Blu-ray from Netflix delivered to his mailbox actually makes a lot of sense for a guy like Vinny who can’t go to the movies very often. More sense than paying the exorbitant prices to get a digital copy of a new film like Infinity War.

@shiro2809: but if they exist... then why write all of this nanomachine parasite stuff? The entire story would have worked without all of that, and we would have all been spared MGS4 and maybe we would have gotten a follow-up to 2 or 3, considering 4 and V only existed as vehicles to retcon as much as possible.

@the_nubster: It still works with it, nanomachines can enhance peoples abilities, and the parasites were like a proto-nanomachine.

I can't think of any retcons in 4 or V, mostly them just having some reveals (like who Cipher/The Patriots are in 4 isn't a retcon at all. Darpa Chief's identity in MGS1 isn't really a retcon either, as he was never really named).

@the_nubster:Seems he understood that some stuff grows only in specific climates but just that he also thought the climates could be simulated to make anything grow anywhere, which really isn't all that far-fetched of a thought/assumption in today's world for... someone.

Love Jeff B, but I think this shows that a crew of 3 should be the max for a playthrough like this. Sure, this isn't the most fun part of the game but Dan was straight up walking into dudes on the same screen, looking directly at him, for the first 1/3th of the video. In a way that was even more careless than previous videos in this series. Forgetting that there's an endless stream of guards on each screen, hiding in the same spot 3 times in a row & getting caught every single time, the list goes on and on. On top of that, he didn't even notice plotpoints like the lights going out. Or having to going down the stairs that he saw 1 screen ago, but erased from memory because the guide says right instead of left. I'm binging these metal gear playthroughs and this video is easily the lowpoint so far. Dan was just not in the game this episode, more focused on keeping up with the random conversations Vinny & Jeff B had on the side. Glad Alex managed to keep the thing rolling. Hopefully Dan will return playing the game himself now. Snake blasting the wall in front of Jimmy's cell is one of the best comedic events in gaming HISTORY I feel. Jimmy's reaction is the cherry on top.

Avatar, sure not a garbage movie, but I think it's safe to say that James Cameron was trying to make this huge behemoth of a movie that we would think back on for decades. In that context, the movie was not even close to good enough to be tha. So while it's an average movie, it's only logical that we look back on it with negative feelings.

Vinny trying to get people to actually think about a thing and then Dan derailing the conversation into his own stupidity is very obviously narcissistic behavior. But its fun!
