Dunno if you're reading this @jeff, but I had issues with dry/irritated eyes as well and went to an optometrist, who, after describing my day to day activities to them (videogames and lots of time behind a monitor), recommended me to simply blink more often. They'd seen this a lot, they said. By playing games a bunch I basically got accustomed to blinking infrequently. After taking this to heart, all my problems with irritated eyes went away. Perhaps this is your issue as well. Should probably still get that looked at though!
Big phones can go fuuuuuuuuck themselves! Maybe if everyone fucks up their hands and thumbs like Jeff mentions then phone makes will make me a goddamn small phone again.
The problem with most eye stain is that a lot of gamers have their monitors or HD televisions set too bright. I, myself, have made this mistake. They either have the brightness too high, or they have the backlight too high (between 80-100). Doing this causes a lot of eye stain, especially if you have the lights off in the room while playing, which a lot of people do. Turning these settings down does a great job at lessening eye stain. It takes some time to get used to it, but its overall better. Even the image is better, because the black levels are produced more accurately.
Jeff you should go see an actual eye doctor, not an optometrist. Getting a good look at your eye can tip the doctor off for all kinds of problems that aren’t necessarily vision related.
