Sid Meier's Civilization V
Game » consists of 6 releases. Released Sep 21, 2010
Civilization V brings brand new gameplay elements to this beloved franchise, while maintaining the "just one more turn" mentality.
Civ 5 Demo hits Sept 21
" @eroticfishcake: Halo Reach, Dead Rising 2, and FF14 off the top of my head. Demo will be cool. Definitely want to see how I feel about this one first. I might be satisfied with Civ IV and Rev... "Hmm. Since I only have interest in this game along with DR2 I guess I shouldn't have too much trouble with choosing which to buy. Cheers.
The only reason I wanted a demo was so it could deal with my need for more Civ before the big release, but releasing it on the day of release won't do that for me.
" Linky. Same day as NA release. "Why don't they provide people with a demo before the release? I would love to pre-order the game, but I would also like to know what I'm getting into. Why is it that these publishers expect us to play a game of Russian roulette every time we pre-order? I may be a devout fan of the franchise, but I am without assurance that this will not be another Civ. III (something I hold in low regard, especially with the other iterations in view).

" I looked down the list, saw your Olaf picture, and almost dumped a load. Lost Vikings sequel, 2012. I'M CALLING IT. As for the topic at hand... 25th. That's pretty soon. "I wish Lost Vikings would return.
" @bwmcmaste: Probably so that people on the other side of the world can play some Civ as well, when is the European/Pal release? "Please read what I said. If they can release a demo in North America, it would stand to reason that they could do the same for all other releases. My point is consistent here: The consumer benefits from being able to legally play a demo before the game is released (in this context: the player's location is irrelevant).
I'm glad they are releasing the demo, because they are releasing it WORLDWIDE, so us other countries that have to wait a couple of days can get our fix before buying the game. The demo hits 10am EDT (Eastern daylight time) which I worked out to be 3pm GMT (For us UK duders). I'll be at work at the time it releases but i'll download it as soon as I get back.
I was going to try the demo to make sure my PC can run it good enough but Direct2drive's deal was too good to pass up.
I've already succombed to the hype and bought it before knowing if my laptop could run it.
The annoying thing about the demo is if it has a limit on number of moves, you won't see how it performs in the late game, when normally it becomes a performance hog as the number of units and population continues to grow.
Was holding off on the preorder till i had to demo to see if i could run the game..... my god is this demo incredible. Sold.
It still looks like a fantastic game.
" The demo seems really bad to me. The presentation is not what I expected at all. It feels like I'm playing Encarta : the video game. Gameplay doesn't seem as slick as Civ IV or Civ Rev either... Glad I held out on this one. "you are crazy, I don't think I could go back to stacking units.
