I'm pretty sure we know the answer to that.  Still I blindly assume Civ games have decent legs in the sales department.

Starcraft noobs will buy anything, it's such a simple, unskilled, game with a bunch of mindless koreans that will happily buy it thrice if they could.
Civilization 5, though, is got a pretty hardcore crowd, no matter what they do to try to get it into the right crowd, it's still a textbook-level historical turn based strategy game which is still probably the most complex series around.

Well I'm sure as hell going to buy it. I've never played a CIV before but that quick look sold me.

Civ and Starcraft are both amazing games. Civ is one of those games that once you get started you wont want to stop and it lives up to its "just one more turn" phrase

@IrishDevil: Don't worry, it may be a little daunting at first, but as long as you have a little patience I'm pretty sure anyone can get into it.

Don't be, it's not THAT complex, especially with Civ V trimming down the fat, and the tutorial's been generally really good in the past.
However, it's still not as simple as Starcraft.

I think as a gamer you owe it to your self to try out Civ. The Civ experience is one of the most iconic in gaming history. And from the looks of it the more streamlined Civ5 is pretty easy to get into, but very hard to master. But you can play on the mid difficulty levels and still have a great time (like most of us do), and when you feel like it you can step it up.

Civ5 and SC2 IMHO both are great pieces of entertainment software. But pitting them against each other is like comparing apples with oranges. Personally I prefer Civ, also because of the fact that a evening of SC2 multiplayer is just physically exhausting. While an evening of Civ against the AI (I still can not understand how anyone can play a 10h game with other people. Everything over an hour boogles my mind.) feels like a relaxing puzzle game.

If you're planning to wait for a price drop, you might have to wait a while.  I did that with Civ 4 and after 2 years it was only down 10 bucks on Steam.  Eventually it did drop to the $20 it's at now, but I would have been better off getting it right off the bat and enjoying it all that time.

I'm not waiting for this one.

Oh no, definitely not going to wait or a price drop. Typically PC games don't go down in price in the UK for a very long time. I just mean I don't have the money right now, so I'll have to wait until I can buy it. Hope the demo goes up sometime reasonable tomorrow so I can still play it for a bit.
