Hallelujah. I'm sure the project they have in mind is much smaller in scale, and there's a good chance it won't happen, but hopefully it will and they'll be able to implement some of the mindfuckery del Toro alludes to in the article.
Silent Hills
Game » consists of 0 releases.
What was to be a new entry in the Silent Hill franchise for the PS4 involving Hideo Kojima, Guillermo Del Toro, and Norman Reedus, was officially cancelled on April 27, 2015. The 'PT' demo of the game has also been taken off PSN.
Kojima and del Toro are looking into another project.
Yaaaaaay! I really wanna see Del Toro put out a finished game. He's one of my favorite directors and he's been trying forever and things just never seem to work out for him. Also, I want Kojima to keep making games...because he's fucking Kojima.
I figured they would still do something together. They're friends and Del Toro has talked about karaoke nights with Kojima. It isn't the high speed robot action that I wanted from Kojima, but I'm still looking forward to the project.
I'm just curious as to what this'll actually end up being in terms of scale. Does this end up being another Shenmue 3 type deal?
As much as I love Del Toro you should never believe a word he says.
I agree.
I really want this to be an actual thing, but I'll just keep my hype under wraps for now. I can't take another silent hills situation.
At this point Benicio Del Toro is more likely to actually make a game.
I'm not sure we'll ever see a genuine Hideo Kojima directed game again; just games in which he was nebulously involved (then again, he's arguably nebulously involved in Metal Gear too).
I really want to see Kojima make something where he's no longer constrained by MGS.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some MGS, but I feel as though Koji has a lot of ideas for games that just cannot work in the context of trying to fit into the MGS lore/canon/whatever.

What do you mean?
@thephantomstranger: Just that some people (I don't fully agree) say that Kojimas role in the Metal Gear games is made out to be more important than it is.
Norman Reedus plays a super gruff secret agent who vapes, who does super cool spy shit and his handle is just "War Economy." Pony up those sixty dollars.
But yeah, unless a year and a half goes by and we are suddenly met with video footage of the the thing being run at E3 or some trade event (it could still go up in smoke even with that) I'm just going to consider this thing a pipe dream. I love Del Toro and I love Kojima, but I think the only game we'll get from them is just a constant guessing game of will they or won't they? I will be super glad if I'm wrong though.
@kasaioni: Game Dev Simulator is actually a really good game and I recommend it to everyone.
I really hope this materializes somehow because the whole mindfuckery bit, using psycho mantis as an example, really makes me excited for what they would be trying to pull off.

Oh wait, apparently the picture is old. Nevermind.
