    SimCity

Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Mar 05, 2013

The fifth major installment of the SimCity franchise is a new take on the old city simulation formula. It features asynchronous multiplayer as well as Maxis' new Glassbox engine, allowing for real time customization and upgrading of buildings.

So are we gonna have a Giantbomb community region?

So the idea of having a bunch of cities that exist in the same world and affect each other sounds amazing and actually is enough to get me over the always-online complaint. I can imagine how fun it will be to a group that gets to know each other through the cities they build, like everybody starts to hate that guy to the west that keeps sending pollution towards your city, or forming alliances with other players to share resources and not share with others.

Sounds like it can be a really fun multiplayer experience. I don't know the limit for amount of players playing together in a region but I would hope it's a pretty high number to create some really interesting situations.

Who else is pumped for the potential griefing experiences with fellow duders!?

The whole idea kind of reminds me of a virus type scenario. I'm assuming that cities only affect those directly adjacent to them (I believe it was 4, but may be 8 if diagonals are included), so one 'bad' city can only affect a few others, but affect them enough, if the other players struggle to contain crime, pollution, etc, then they to may begin to affect others adjacent to them, spreading the 'disease'. In any case, it sounds awesome.

I'm up for it, as long as you don't mind that I'm bad at Sim City and all of the cities around me will become crime infested shit holes.

@Skyfire543: I don't mind, I've never even played Sim City before, only The Sims games, so you can't be that much worse than me.

Never played SimCity, but you just described sounds really fun. I'll probably host/feature something for it on my GB PC Gaming Hub, since we have a voice server and the whole deal.

I'm ridiculously excited for this. I think I've been needing a game to really sink a lot of hours into.

I used to play World of Warcraft (many years ago) and there was actually a lot of comfort to be had from having that one game you can play for hours and hours. These days I can't really justify spending so much time on one thing, without having anything to show for it. Simply increasing the level of my character and scoring phat lewts isn't enough, otherwise I'd be playing Diablo 3.

Building a huge sprawling city that cleverly manage resources, traffic flow, water, pollution, crime, fire threats and anything else the game might contain is something I could really get into though. I'd have a ridiculous amount of fun, and I'd have an entire city to show off instead of just one character :3

Also, I've always thought it would be cool to build my home city and surrounding suburbs in a video game. In previous games it's been a bit difficult, but in this one it actually looks achievable!

Oh yeah, count me in for this Giant Bomb community region.

Yeah, I've already thought about recruiting some dedicated city builders to create a utopia that will be the worst or best place in the world.

I'd be down for this. The whole community aspect of this game sounds awesome with a bunch of people, as I basically want to ruin others cities with my pollution and crime.

I guess it depends how many people are allowed in a region. It seems like under six would be sensible, but if it's 10+ then sure.

I'm stoked for the new SimCity, I got the one on iphone and filled the entire map and still have it generate revenue, that's when I decided I 'beat' SimCity.

This new one looks amazing, I'd be down for some multiplayer. I shall call it... New Vincent Caravillage!

    I am definitely in.

What intrigues me the most is that this certainly seems to have been built as a co-operative game. I'm sure online communities such as this will find a way to make SimCity a cutthroat competitive game.
