Not playing SD so GTAV is 100% fresh - Am I a douchebag?

I don't see how any of this would make you a douchebag. Play what you want.

Yes, I am outraged! How dare you do such a thing. I cast a curse upon your kin.

Nah, it's fine. I can totally understand your reasoning behind that.

They seem like different enough cities that exploring the two should be a different experience. At this point though I am waiting for the Sleeping Dogs: Complete Edition to be released.

I am with Darth, I will wait for a complete / GOTY edition as the DLC is popping out like candy. Plus open world games are aways fun int he sense that its open and something new might be around the corner.

Asking questions for no reason is pretty douchey. If you want to validate yourself and tell us your worldview, don't wait until page 2. Just say it up front.

And you can bet your ass I'm not playing Saints Row 4 either. Being able to run at super speed/fly is sure to make GTAV seem slow on boring with it less than a month away (leaving just a 2 week gap between games). Plus all the aforementioned 'open-world burnout syndrome' makes this a super no-go!

Not a douchebag, but perhaps lacking in logic. GTA and SD are two very different flavors of open world game.

Also everyone's different, but I could play open world games till the day I die, I never tire of them.

I've made the conscious decision to completely avoid Sleeping Dogs, despite it's GB GOTY praise, in order to maximize the impact of Grand Theft Auto V.

Why? Well, I have this theory that:

    • A. Open World games are the best type of video game. But..
    • B. They are super easy to get burned out and unappreciative of

Now granted, I just played the shit out of Far Cry 3. Buuut I'd argue it's no rationalization to say it's far enough removed from the SD/GTA/Saints Row '3rd Person Crime City-Setting' type thang.

Please tell; am I out of my fucking mind?

Sleeping dogs is a very different game that focus' heavily on hand to hand combat.

The graphics in Sleeping Dogs looks better than the current-gen images I've seen from GTA V. Its a really nice game with the high res pack (free dlc on Steam).

@noobsauceg7: Oh I'm going to 100%. I actually own it on steam (came with the purchase of my 7870). Just waiting until AFTER I'm done with GTA V.

Having played Saints Row 4, I can confirm that this is a legitimate problem one could encounter with other open world games.

I have only one question... why doesn't this topic have a poll?
