Is there any way to play Slender without the cautionary static? It totally vitiates any sense of (unexpected) dread. It's much less frightening when you're aware of his propinquity. So, I'd appreciate if anyone could notify me of a way to disable the static and screen-fuzzing (technical term, obviously) effects.

Isn't the static what measures your "health" in the game, though?
